About
There’s nothing a sheepdog likes more than to hunt sheep, and Michael will prove this as he puts his dogs to work. Throughout the demonstration, he will explain what each command means, giving a good insight into the dog training technique. This demonstration is a must see for all. You will witness the intelligence of these sheepdogs as they follow the commands obediently. This is a perfect opportunity for you to capture the true essence of Irish country living. Our sheepdog demonstrations showcase the process of sheep herding, and we have specially designed packages for corporate team building, so if you fancy a break from the office and a fun day out with your colleagues, look no further!

We booked a private demo for our group of 7 and couldn’t have been happier with the experience! Michael was a great host - even when we were running late because of a traffic accident on the highway! We learned a lot about the sheepherding practice and how things have evolved. It was also super interesting to learn about how they train the dogs and to see them in action. Thank you for making this one of the best stops on our trip! And being from California, we appreciated the tip to drive through Hollywood and get a picture of the Hollywood sign in Ireland! Cheers!

This stop was one of my all time favorite experiences. Michael was informative and witty. I loved watching him work with the animals and could have easily spent the entire day there. 5 out of 5 stars. Trying to figure out how to add another demonstration viewing to my itinerary.

We thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration with Michael and his dog, Maggie who kept those sheep in order through commands and ear shattering whistles. Absolutely amazing!

I’ve only ever watched sheep herding demonstrations on tv. This was amazing. The dogs and Michael were great. He took time to explain what he was happening and his farm. Highly recommend

THIS DEMONSTRATION NEEDS TO BE ON YOUR LIST FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO IRELAND! We took our teens (17yrs & 15yrs) to Ireland for the first time this summer and scheduled only
activities that peaked their interest. Micheal was not only SUPER informative about the training process; but also about the sheep/wool industry in Ireland/Europe. The dogs were AMAZING and my kids LOVED every minute! Definitely a highlight on our trip and we
plan to return!

Wow! Michael may be a "Irish working farmer/rancher" but he has a huge personality. He went through the basics of his working farm and training his beautiful dogs. Watching Maggie and his other dogs was fascinating. If you have a dog you know it can be hard to get them to mind. Michael should make a You Tube video sharing his teaching techniques. He does have a You Tube video starring his dogs! The experience was fun, interesting and entertaining. Loved the sheep and his small shed of gifts.
Five stars!

What a fun day we had watching the amazing sheepdogs do their thing! They are so happy. It was very interesting to learn the extensive process the shepherd goes through to choose the right dogs for the job. Highly recommend this unique experience.

Due to it presently being lambing season, we got to hold and feed two day-old tiny lambs! They were super cute and didn’t mind being passed from person to person of our group.
The dog herding demonstration was brilliant! We were able to witness a display of the sheep and the dog relationship. It is funny how the dog didn’t take her eyes off the sheep for a moment, and there seemed to have been constant negotiation between them.
It rained for a little less than half the time we were there but there is a wide covered area, a tiny shop and bathrooms for hand washing if needed.
An experience that should not be missed, regardless of age!

I can only tell you the name of the person that we booked our tour with. His name is Derick Smith from Beautiful Meath Tours. Just google his name. You can tell him what you want to see on your tour. Tell him that you are interested in the Sheepdog demonstration and he will be glad to arrange it for you. His tours are great and he and his drivers are wonderful. I hope this helps.
