Description:

The Black Valley lies on the road between Moll's Gap and the Gap of Dunlow...

The Black Valley lies on the road between Moll's Gap and the Gap of Dunlow - a beautiful and isolated valley in the heart of Killarney National Park. Most visitors hasten by on the way to the drama of the Gap of Dunloe. Instead, stop, look around, take a walk. The Black Valley was the last place in Ireland to receive an electrical supply - in the 1970's.

amazing sightseeing

Took the local road through the valley, with my client on board, had a wonderful time driving in between the mountains and water falling down everywhere we passed

We came from the Gap of Dunloe - basically after reaching the highest point, you'll see a sign saying Black Valley on it. It is wonderful to descend and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake below and the mountains around it. We walked and it was a real pleasure after the uphills of the Gap. Of course you could... Another great drive in the Killarney area! Some narrow roads, but they're worth dealing with to take in the views. Not is stupendous as the Gap of Dunloe, but still nice!

This place is gorgeous and is worth the visit, if you are driving a small car is advised as the roads are very narrow and there are some extreme bends in some of the roads. Google maps is also a great help to have! The sights and sounds are stimulating!

I drove throgh Black Valley yesterday with family. We came through the Gap of Dunloe side and passed all the Jarveys who take people up by pony and trap. I can see the advantages of doing it that way! The road is so narrow that I was really glad I only have a small car, the twists and turns, climbs... More

This is a truely spectacular drive to take. I recently took a tour of 5xNew Yorkers down the Black Valley & through the gap of Dunloe. It was an area they had never even heard of! This area is picture perfect. Completely unspoilt & very peaceful! Caution is advised on the narrow winding road!!

Well worth taking a spin or a walk around this area. Amazing views, breath taking some of them. Small roads so if your driving make sure your car ain't to wide or there maybe some scary sections

The Black Valley is really beautiful, there are so many different views to enjoy like valley's, waterfalls, the gap of dunloe etc. If you go drive the longest route through the valley to the gap of dunloe just so the sun is behind you, because the roads are narrow you really don't need the sun in your face. The driver... More
