Drove around this road in sun and rain brilliant on both occasions . Its kinda cool when you are level with clouds of mist and even looking down on some. A lovely windy road with plenty of lovely valley views.

I take this road each time I come to Ireland. The amazing carved tunnels and breathtaking views are a must see for everyone. The family was in awe as it was their first time seeing it.

The views from the road are breathtaking of lochs, hills and valleys. Don't travel quickly but savour the views.

Part of our driving along the ring of Kerry. Don't have to stop. Just keep driving. Although Kenmare is a cute old town. Recommend Mick and Jimmys for lunch.

Coming up to this tunnel took breath away as never seen anything like this. True stone artists had to have created this awesome tunnel.

Glad we went during the slow time of the year. Roads were beautiful and full of turns but VERY narrow. Many places to pull off and enjoy the views and scenery.

Kenmare is a nice place to stop, and the roads leading in and out are make for some special drives and landscapes

This road will take you from the beautiful Town of Kemare all the way to the Bantry Golf Course. It has High elevations and tunnels carved out of rock that i have not seen anywhere else in Ireland, You also pass through Glengariff where Maureen...More

You are dumbfounded through a rock that look medieval and yet alluring in sight. Its a mixture of the old and new. Great sight

This road is definitely open to cars they just prefer no cars go through so it's better to enter from the other side but you can absolutely take a car through there. It is a very neat and scenic drive. Not busy as most... More

I hiked the old kenmare road Sunday last ...no way can you drive this route! The N71 road to kenmare from killarney is the main driving route, the old kenmare road is a totally different route 😀
