About
Falconry Kerry provides you with an opportunity to take part in “the sport of kings”. Here you can fly your own hawk in our meadows with the assistance of a trained falconer. Not to mention the beautiful owls you will meet. (they make the most original photobombers!) The hawk walk lasts about one hour and pre-booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

- davidharcourtNewtownards, United Kingdom129 contributionsExcellent experienceThe venue was a little difficult to reach today due to roadworks, but one of the workmen checked where we were going and allowed us to enter the otherwise closed road. Liam met us in the yard, and we introduced ourselves. We had a COVID 19 safety briefing and a splash of sanitiser before going to the field. We gloved up (vinyl and leather, left hand only), and Liam brought out the first bird. George the Harris Hawk was very active, motivated entirely by scraps of food. Liam was very informative, and very patient with questions I'm sure he'd heard a million times before. When George's crop was bulging, and he was literally fed up, he slowed down a little and wasn't keen to return to Liam, knowing he would be returned to the travel box. However he finds chicken scraps irresistible so was returned and bird number two came out, a barn owl named Pools. He was less of a showman than George, but put on an impressive display of absolutely silent flight. Bird three, an African Spotted Eagle owl named Freddy was next. He was a bit bigger than Pools, and with attitude. Grumpy Cat with wings. The final owl, Leah, didn't fly today as she is mid-moult, making her look a bit scruffy. We got to handle all the birds and take as many photos as we liked, and the birds were very comfortable with our adult group. Liam explained they're not always so happy with groups of children. The experience lasted around 90 minutes and was worth every euro of the price.Visited August 2020Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 August 2020
- Susan SBallinskelligs, Ireland6 contributionsMemorable Mid Term ExperienceI was looking to do something different with my 6 year old niece and 8 year old nephew while they were down from Cork on their mid term break. I contacted Kerry Falconry, but, as the weather was bad, he said they weren't doing any hawk walks but was happy for them, being children with an interest in animals to come and see some of the birds. We all had a fantastic experience. Liam was very patient and kind with the children and was generous in giving his time and sharing his knowledge. Liam has an obvious love for the birds and what he does. They got to handle the owls and get some great photographs. An experience they will never forget and are dying to share with their friends when they go back to school next week. We will definitely be returning for the full experience when the weather is better at Easter or in the summer and would highly recommend to anyone who would like to see these majestic birds close upVisited February 2020Written 21 February 2020
- Maeveipoo1110 contributionsFascinatingI booked this visit prior to our arrival in Killarney. Liam replied to my enquiry within 30 minutes and we arranged our date and time. Liam met us in the car park and explained all about the working farm, his and his uncle’s interest in bees (his uncle has active hives) all while walking out to the area he uses for these sessions. Liam introduced us firstly to Erin, a harrier hawk, a beautiful, gentle 3 three old and explained all about their hunting, breeding, raring, habitats, licences needed to own them - their craw’s and how you know they are full. All fascinating. Then we were introducing to Pooka, Fred and Leah a barn, eagle and great grey owl respectively. It was wonderful to hold these birds and to interact with them and have Liam answer every single question he was asked. He was gentle and patient and great fun. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the outdoors and in doing something a bit different. Thanks Liam!Visited July 2020Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2020

Once in a lifetime experience! Got to meet Jessie the hawk and three owls named Cookie, Willow, and Rusty. You get to get up close and personal with the birds. They fly directly onto your gloved hand. Mira our guide was very knowledgeable and you could tell she loved the animals. If I ever go back to Ireland I will be doing this again.

This was an awesome experience. They had a hawk and some owls. Learned a lot about them. Even petted the big gray one. Got to have them land on my hand multiple times. They, also, have some alpacas to see. Myra was great! One of the best experiences I had in Ireland. It's near the Killarney National Park, too.

We were met promptly and taken to a field to interact with a Harris Hawk, two Great Gray Owls and an Irish Barn Owl. Numerous opportunities to feed the birds, ask questions, interact with them and have them land on our gloves arms. The experience lasted just over an hour. A cool experience that I would have never had in Chicago.

What an amazing and special way to experience Kerry! I would recommend this activity for everyone. Liam was kind enough to book us on the same day and Mira was a really lovely, knowledgeable guide. My boyfriend and I had so much fun and learned a lot about these amazing birds of prey. We would love to come again and meet more of the birds! We’ll probably be on the lookout for more falconry experiences wherever we go!

My mother and I had a wonderful time at Falconry Kerry! We were able to fly multiple birds, including two Hawks, and an owl. Our falconer was very patient and knowledgeable! We also had a wonderful time feeding the alpacas while we waited for set up I would definitely recommend making a trip to this falconry

Our falconer, Liam was fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much interaction with the owls and hawk, we couldn’t have asked for a more personal experience. Liam was very knowledgeable and a lovely young man! Thank you!

I visited Falconry Kerry with my family (age ranging from 10 to 78) in mid-August of 2023. Mira was our falconer, and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. All 5 of us were able to have one on one time with the hawk and the three owls. It was also an extra bonus that we got to feed the alpacas on-site. It was an experience that we all loved, one of our favorites in Ireland.

Mira, the birds trainer, was bery professional and knowledgeable. The experience includes one hour with 4 different birds of pray. Mostly different owls and an hawk. It wasvery interesting how they catch the food and fly from very short distance. Very recommend

I booked an afternoon as a bit of a surprise for the kids (8 and 15 yo) and was hoping for some nice weather. The falconry would be one of the ‘special’ treats as part of our Ireland trip, apart from the standard things like Ross Castle and the Ring of Kerry…
And what a treat it was! Patrick, our host, was super friendly, an amiable guy who made us feel at home in an instant. The kids thought we were coming for the alpaca’s there (which they also love) but to their surprise they were going to be falconers for the day! The youngest was a bit afraid at first for the claws, but the birds are super gentle and the glove of course makes it very safe. We were immediately in love with Snowy, Rusty and little Gandalf the owlet. It was a super day out, it might look a bit pricey, but in fact it isn’t, considering the (more than an) hour fun and joy with not just seeing falconers at work, but BE ONE.
Verily a very special afternoon and worth every penny. The kids will talk for years on end about this and to be honest, so will I.
We will return one day to see how Gandalf has grown, and maybe will fly him!
Thanks Liam and team for making this an unforgettable experience!
Sincerely, a happy Belgian family.

We had a great time in Thursday afternoon meeting Eirn and Rusty and the baby barn owl. The kids loved every second and my middle child says she now wants a pet owl! As a bonus the alpacas came over to the fence too! We'd highly recommend this if in Killarney!
