This is a fun experience watching how the sheep dogs work and the shearing. Kids would love it too. We were with friends who had visited a sheep farm in New Zealand and they were surprised at how different it was in Ireland. We visited in September when appointments were required. Due to tour groups, it's probably best to call... More

Worth a visit - interesting to see the dogs rounding up the sheep, the sheep shearing process and just being in the region where the sheep graze.

This was a very nice experience! Kissane farm has a very nice way of introducing their way of work to the visitors. First we saw a demonstration with border collie and her owner directing a herd of sheep to the paddock, after that we saw how they shave sheep and give them medicine. There is also a shop with their... More

You will love the drive from whichever direction. The sheep farm is located on the Ring of Kerry and has the perfect setup and backdrop to watch a sheep dog demonstration. Dash was the star of the show and made to look better by Jane the veteran herder on the farm. For the affordable entrance fee of €7 you get... More

We had such a great time here. We visited Ireland for our honeymoon with out 4 month old son and it was great fun for the whole family. I grew up on a pork farm but have never seen a working sheep farm with such amazing dogs and trainers. The whole experience was captivating and educational. They explained how the... More

We really enjoyed our afternoon at Kissane. We saw both the border collie herding and shearing demonstrations. Was fascinating for both the kids and adults....and nestled in the Ring of Kerry the scenery is spectacular. We adopted a sheep and will be able to keep tabs on her through email and pictures as she lives on the farm. Noel Kissane... More

This is a stop on our tour that thrilled us with the training and expertise that the shepherd/farmer has done with his dogs. The explanation of the different jobs that the different dogs have was an 'I didn't know that', moment. The signals and working of the dogs to drive the flock to precisely where the farmer needed them to... More

Getting to see this working sheep farm was a dream come true! The demonstration in the rough ravines by Moll's Gap was informative and breathtaking at the same time. The Border Collie family (five total) handled the Scottish Rocky Mountain Sheep with precision and ease, following the commands of the farm shepard to perfection. It was an impressive true picture... Animal Welfare Law states that animals should be spared unavoidable pain, stress or suffering! Should we be putting sheep through the flocking process multiple times per day for our entertainment! Could we see the same thing on a DVD? Is it fair to a sheep to be restrained and sheared in front of dozens of camera flashing tourists? Does this... More
