One of the highlights of our Ireland vacation

This was a very welcome stop on our way to Dingle today. The stop was planned, and I really didn't know what to expect, but I was ready with my camera and long lens. The dogs and... read more

Our group tour stopped at the Kissane Sheep Farm and saw the sheepdogs work bringing the sheep back to the barn--showing amazing agility and instinct. A brief presentation by the owner--including a sheep shearing--was interesting and up close. The activity helps one better understand the culture and history of Ireland.

We had our grand kids with us 8, 5 and 3 years old. This was a good stop for them to watch the dogs work the sheep and to watch the sheep sheering demonstration.

This was a very welcome stop on our way to Dingle today. The stop was planned, and I really didn't know what to expect, but I was ready with my camera and long lens. The dogs and handler and sheep put on a great show for us, then we sat in the barn and watched a sheep shearing demonstration. It... More

Just a con! All we saw was exploitation of animals - this place has no redeeming features or qualities at all. Expensive. The sheep looked terrified being sheared in front of a load of tourists with flashes on their cameras. There were 6 of us visiting, the four adults were disgusted and the two children were bored. They even had... More

What a wonderful enlightening experience, visiting the Kissane Sheep Farm for the sheep dog herding and sheep shearing demonstrations. Noel and John are very personable and sociable hosts, taking the time to answer visitors' questions and to explain the intricate details of the training and handling of their high intelligence sheep dogs. I have visited the farm over five time... More

I've trained my 2 standard schnauzers at the first level of AKC herding competition, but they can do nothing like these dogs! I've also seen competition at the Calgary Stampede but to see these dogs actually working sheep is spectacular. It brought tears to my eyes to see such good working dogs responding to their master. And over such rough... More

My wife fell in love with the black-faced Scottish mountain sheep, so I knew I had to stop by Kissane farm so she could get some up-close interaction with them. The sheep-shearing demo was interesting, but obviously the highlight was watching the dogs race around the acreage rounding up the sheep and guiding them up into the pen. Very impressive... More

The farm is located in a picturesque mountain valley just 20 minutes drive from Kenmare. The scenic beauty is fantastic. Then you get to meet the incredible dogs. Before your eyes the sheep herder whistles and yells commands to the dog, a few hundred meters away, and the dog springs into action, first rounding up the sheep and then driving... More
