After an exchange of emails with Paul Healy, we engaged Healy tours for trip to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher in mid-October, after the busy tourist season.. Healy explained that his tours were smaller, i.e. 10 or so people. We wanted to avoid large buses. Healy offered us the option of 3 tours times, 10:00, 11:00 or 11:30am. We selected the10:00am option that included Aillwee Caves. We arrived at the designated meeting spot at 9:45am only to be told by the guide that the tour was cancelled as we were the only subscribers. He assigned us to the 11:30am tour as apparently the 11:00am was cancelled as well. We spoke to Healy who declined to refund our money and, without apology, referred to the “Terms and Conditions” of the tour that permitted cancellation in such circumstances. Healy was probably right from a technical legal standpoint, but he was certainly way “off base” from a customer service and satisfaction standpoint. An apology would have been appreciated. Notably, we had a nearly identical experience in a Europeon city during past 2 years where tour operator, concerned with our convenience and satisfaction, operated the tour with us alone. Moreover, given the time of year, we suspect that the absence of subscriptions for particular tour times was totally predictable. So why, during the course of our email exchanges, did he conveniently fail to mention that possibility? Within the day or two leading up to the tour date, Healy undoubtedly knew or should have known that the 10:00am tour would be under-subscribed. Healy had our telephone and email contacts. Why did he fail to provide a prior warning that we might be moved to a later tour time? Reference to his “Terms and Conditions” suggest an answer. Customers who cancel outside 48 hours or 24 hours are entitled, respectively, to a full or 50% refund. The matter became worse as the morning progressed. Due to time constraints, the later tour omitted the Aillwee Caves, albeit without a price adjustment. The driver, who was notably unfriendly during the entire day, instructed us to return for the11:30am tour at 11:00am, only to leave us waiting at the meeting point for more than ½ hour when he knew, or so he said, that other subscribers were not due until 11:20am. Due to all of the above circumstances it is clear the Healy Tours was far more interested in profit and its interests rather than our experience, satisfaction and convenience as its customers. Its performance was totally unsatisfactory and unforgivable.

On a recommendation of another tour operator, we spoke to Paul , the owner, and he arranged one of his tour guides to pick us up in Kilcolgan for a wonderful day trip through the Burren and onto the Cliffs of Mohr. It was an all-encompassing trip, and Patrick was the perfect escort!

I was part of a group of 12 on this tour to the Cliffs of Moher, Burren, Connemara & Cong regions. The group did not want to do the first part of the birds of prey tour so had to meet up with the other part of the group down the road, which was fine. The bus does pick up at your location for the tour, but does not drop off. We got left off at the Galway bus station and took cabs back to where we were staying. Not too big a deal. We were supposed to be picked up at 10:45,however, someone contacted us and said 11. The bus arrived at about 11:15. Our driver switched a couple times down the road, and neither one explained what sites we were going to, nor talked very much. The second driver was more friendly than the first, thankfully. But dear Lord, that man had a heavy foot! We wondered why he said that if anyone felt queasy to let him know and he'd pull over. The combination of the windy, bumpy roads and his constant hitting the accelerator and then the break made a number of us quite queasy. It was constant back and forth in our seats. We drove by a number of cool looking sites, and many listed on the website as stops, but never stopped. Mr. Heavy-foot did explain some of the history which was nice. But we didn't stop! Woosh! Just drove by with his heavy dang nauseating foot. We finally stopped at the Cliffs of Moher and provided 1.5 hours there which was nice, especially as it was raining, and after about an hour the fog started rolling in. We then left to go to lunch. We stopped at some place to eat, where there was a music fest going on and busy, only given 30 minutes to eat. 30 minutes!? I think most people got food to go and just ate on the bus. They must have a deal with the restaurant. We then stopped for only 15 minutes at the Burren, which is neat but given it's name, not a whole lot there. We then stopped for 15 minutes at a castle/museum which was closed, and parked so far away that we had to speed walk to take some pictures and get back in time. Many people didn't bother getting off the bus. That's it! The Cliffs and 2 quick stops, a crappy quick lunch, and a long ride with Mr. Heavy-foot. So, if your goal is to see the Cliffs of Moher and a couple quick stops, and potentially get sick along the way, then this tour is for you.

I booked a tour the same morning of the event. When we showed up for the tour, they said not enough people had signed up, so they were cancelling. They did not offer to refund my money. I emailed Healy Tours and tried to message their business on Facebook and they did not respond. I could even see that my message was "read" on Facebook from them. I ended up having to spend months with my bank trying to get my money back. Thankfully my bank was able to return my money to me because I had provided all of the evidence of how they took my money fraudulently. I cannot believe that you would do this to your customers. I understand having to cancel a tour, but to not automatically refund money for services NOT given is just unacceptable. This was our honeymoon and added stress we did not need. I am so disappointed with this company.
