This pub is a real gem if you are looking for a real locals pub away from the tourst trappings. It is about 10 minutes walk out of the centre of Galway and is a bit tricky to find as it doesn't actually say "Crane...More

The Crane Bar is traditional Irish pub with live jam sessions. The bathrooms are microscopic, the stairs steep and the crowd tipsy. Your feet will stick to the floor. We loved it!

We went there for traditional (Trad) music. It starts at 9:30, upstairs. Very nice traditional and real atmosphere, not scripted for tourists .Real trad music and cold Guinness.

What can be said about The Crane that hasn't already been said? Fantastic trad session on a Saturday night. If you're hoping to get a seat, I suggest you arrive very early. Every time I visit a session here, it is absolutely packed. I wonder...More

Had an amazing time, went there 2 or 3 times during our stay around the corner in Galway. Reasonable price for a pint, great live music, friendly locals and tourists alike to meet and chat with. Free trad music most nights. Perfect pub.

I started playing trad here while studying in Galway in 2001, and 17 years later it was nice to see that the music was still going strong. Place was absolutely mobbed, so if you're a musician or listener, arrive early to get a seat.

I'm not saying the trad music wasn't incredible. The bar is a classic Irish pub, the Guinness is delicious, the decor is great. We went there on June 8, a Friday night. Every single stool and chair was taken, upstairs and downstairs. We stood shoulder...More

You’re not going to find a better bar for traditional Irish music. The musicians really play well and nonstop. They bring the crowd into the music and make you feel as though you’re a part of the musical experience. The staff is a great bunch...More

Get there early for live music upstairs - the Tuesday night we went, the doors to the music area didn’t open until 9:30, but it was standing room only by 10 p.m. when the musicians actually started. This is a true pub - only drinks...More
