We booked on our first night in Galway on a couple’s trip and had so much fun! We loved Duncan’s laid back attitude while also making sure we knew exactly how to properly paddle a kayak. Duncan gave us a lot of fascinating information about Galway you won’t learn on other tours and views of the river and city you cannot see anywhere else. He is very personable and the conversation was like meeting a local in a pub in the water. He is also very safety conscious and kept checking to ensure we were comfortable. We definitely recommend this unique and memorable experience to enjoy Galway!

What a lovely way to see a different side of Galway. As a first time Kayaker, Duncan made me feel totally at ease and shared his knowledge about the river Corrib and surrounds with gentle Irish humour and fascinating stories. We had a great afternoon and highly recommend this as a lovely way to spend a relaxing afternoon and experience the tranquility of the river.

We had a great time kayaking with Duncan and James! We had a group of 7 30 something women. Both Duncan and James were as nice as could be and were really helpful teaching us the ins and outs of kayaking. They made helpful and clear recommendations for clothing and what to bring. We truly enjoyed their company and conversation on the river. They were also great at providing photos so we didn’t risk our phones on the river. Would definitely recommend and would go again in a heartbeat!

A highlight of our trip, paddling was a great way to experience Ireland in a different way— this isn’t your run of the mill kayaking tourist trap, it’s a mom n pop shop—one man op—and it’s a full-blown experience paddling the river and out to the lake— there is a spectacular castle on the river, no bugs; nice and calm, lots of wildlife and little to no motor traffic which creates for a peaceful cruise through the waterway and excellent conversation. Duncan is a top notch fella, above and beyond guide, the equipment is nice and Lo and I had a blast. I would do this again, rain or shine, but we also had solid weather.

Excellent experience. Duncan did a great job accessing our kayaking experience and easily getting us all out on the water. Great equipment and wet suits and wind/rain jacket available at no extra charge. His background knowledge of natural and historic landscape was excellent as well

My friend and I had a great time. The river was peaceful, even though it was a rainy day. Duncan was very helpful, he transported the kayaks and helped us get into them. Before setting us loose, he took care to make sure of any special needs we may have. He was very informative about the history of the area, as well as the local ecology. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to enjoy Gallways waterways in a special way.

I recently went kayaking with Duncan from Give It A Go, and it was an incredible experience! My daughter Ciara and I had an amazing time on the water this past Saturday. Duncan was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, and made sure we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. He provided clear instructions and helpful tips that made our kayaking adventure enjoyable and memorable. We had so much fun exploring the area and can’t wait to do it again. Highly recommend Duncan and Give It A Go for a fantastic kayaking experience!

Kayaking on River Corrib was fantastic and I would recommend to anyone at any skill level. The river and lake are both beautiful and was a great way to start our morning. Duncan was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and had great recommendations for other areas we will be traveling to.

Super experience kayaking on the river with Duncan's super photography skills and bits of knowledge that he shared with us. We loved kayaking between the reeds and the rain just made it all the more magical. Don't shy away from the weather it's the best way to experience being in nature.

I am blind and although I have done kayaking once before I would need some help in guiding the boat I would really love to go on a short trip. I am wondering is this possible and what would be the cost

Good morning,
thank you for your interest in going kayaking with Give It a Go.
A number of people with visual impairments have enjoyed kayaking with Give It a Go over the last few years. One option is to use a double kayak with someone else. Depending on your previous experience and what you are comfortable with there are a number of different strategies I could suggest to enable you to go in a single kayak. Certainly for your first time kayaking with Give It a Go I would recommend we go kayaking along the upper sections of the river Corrib as it is a very sheltered location. The cost per half-day trip is €45 per person.
If you need any more info please let me know.
Bye for now,
Duncan

Hi!
I am planning on becoming the first person to swim the entire length of the River Shannon this summer, but I am having a very hard time finding a map of the river that is very detailed. I am looking for one that shows docks and places to enter and exit the water. Do you have any suggestions on where I could obtain one or perhaps a personal favorite that you use?
Thanks so much,
Dean Hall

Good morning Dean,
my advice would be to look at the Ordnance Survey Irelad maps . It might be worth checking with Waterways Ireland to see what information they have available.I would rarely kayak on the Shannon and don't have any specific content to recommend for you.
Best of luck with your venture.
Kind regards,
Duncan

We will be in Ireland for October and would consider doing some kayaking in your part of the country. Is the weather generally reasonable for this ? My wife would only be interested is short half day trips in sheltered water but I would look at a day or two offshore.
Written 31 January 2017
Hi Tony,
thank you very much for your enquiry. We have enjoyed some beautiful kayaking weather in October for the last couple of years. The half day tours are probably the most popular option. The longer offshore trips are great fun too but they don't run as often. If you have particular dates that you would like to go kayaking please let me know and I will check availability for you and let you know what the options are.
Kind regards,
Duncan

Hi there,
thank you for your enquiry. With our double (two person) kayaks we can easily accomodate family groups. Our youngest kayaker to date was 4 yrs old.
If you have any other questions feel free to get in touch.
Kind regards,
Duncan
