We used Ireland West Tours for a day touring around Co Clare. As we had limited time and wanted to see specific family- linked places, it was a fabulous choice and exceeded expectations. Jim was easy to contact and provided suggestions without imposing his views both when booking and on the day but ultimately it was our day and he was happily at our service. He was punctual, flexible, a careful driver and his car was very clean. I can highly recommend Jim and his service/ company.

I had a tour booked with another company for Saturday and they failed to pick me up as scheduled. So, since I had Sunday booked with Jim, I called him and rather than playing golf (which he had planned), he saved my Saturday and took me on a great tour of the Burrens and the Cliffs of Moher. On Sunday, he took me as planned on a tour of Connemara. I have never seen such grand expanses and once again enjoyed the depth of knowledge Jim has of the area as well as where to stop to get the best photos. I should add that I am mobility challenged and Jim went out of his way to ensure I was able to see and enjoy all the sights in an environment that is not really friendly to the disabled.

When we planned to visit western Ireland, friends warned us against driving ourselves so we signed on with Ireland West Tours. Jim was a terrific tour guide, who tailored the itinerary to our interest, took on all the winding back roads to see the most spectacular scenery, recommended great places to eat, and shared a little Irish humor along the way. We wound up seeing places that no tour bus could ever reach, and having a memorable experience.

If you want a break from Galway's sunshine head to Kirwins Lane Theatre to see 'The life before death' a 1 act play by Kelby Guilfoyle. Elliot and Harvey will make you laugh and cry as they deal with a subject matter that is almost taboo in this fair isle. It will cost you €10 or €8 and is part of Galway's Fringe festival. You can go 18th 19th 20th of July between the hours of 15.00 and 16.00. Miss it and you've missed something else. Oh and great choice of music also

I found Jim and and Ireland West Tours by chance and I'm so blessed! Jim was on time and gave much information about the history of the areas we were in. He was prepared with water bottles and a cooler for anything we might need. This was my first trip to Ireland and I gave Jim a list of ideas. He took it from there.
He booked an appointment for my daughter and I to have our own Harris Hawks for over an hour in the woods with Declan our Falconer who was also amazing. Jim didn't drop us off at the door but instead took charge and went to the desk explaining we had an appointment then went on the Hawk Walk with us capturing some amazing pictures for us. It was an amazing experience.
We then drive through the Buren area stoping anywhere we wanted. Jim was never in a hurry and constantly offered choices about what was up ahead giving us a minute to think if we wanted to stop there. We stopped at a couple of old castles and Jim explained the history of it. Even going into the detail of why some windows were shaped in a slit with only a narrow space to peer out versus other windows that were squared with four sections of glass.
We went to view an ancient dolmen and while we visited, Jim had set it up so a talented local merchant was making necklaces with our names on it in an ancient Celtic language. It's beautiful.
Jim had also secured boat reservations for a cruise under the Cliffs of Moher. The wind that day was making a lot of waves and the company had canceled the early morning boats. Jim called them again in the afternoon and was successful in getting us a spot. It was a beautiful trip and an exciting boat cruise on the large waves. Even a few Puffins flew by to welcome us.
We had reservations for a medieval dinner in Limerick at Bunratty Castle and he took us that way instead of going back to Galway. Jim made sure we were checked into the hotel and even got the hotel staff to print us a bus map on how to get back to Dublin the following day.
Taking a private tour with Jim and Ireland West Tours was the best day we had on our 10 day holiday from The States.
If you can find an opening in his schedule --grab it quick. He is a jewel!
Thanks!!

We just got back from Ireland and spent 3 separate days with Jim. He brilliantly created and executed multiple endeavors and tied it in with transfers from one place to another.
All while enjoying a lot of laughs along the way.
We had a great time!

I had 1 day to spend in Galway and didn't want to spend it on a tour bus. I wanted to see Ireland and learn about the history and customs. After a few conversations Jim understood what I wanted and created a customized tour that took me through the beautiful country around Connemara. The stories and legends were informative and at times quite hilarious. I would recommend Ireland West Tours to anyone!

I booked Jim to take me to Ireland's School of Falconry and then for a tour around the area and he was excellent. When we got to the Falconry he was right behind me taking pictures with his professional camera and even told me he would send me a link to the pictures. During the tour he gave me lots of information and answered any questions I had. We also just chatted while we were on our way to different places and he gave me choices on what I wanted to see.
Overall Jim and Ireland West Tours are excellent and knowledgeable.

My husband and I spent a very memorable day exploring the Connemara with Jim. From the time we first made contact via email until we said good bye at the end of our day Jim was a delight and easy to work with. He picked us up promptly at the appointed hour and spent time chatting with us about what we wanted from our day. Jim has no pre-planned stops at restaurants or shops like the big tour companies -- it is all about what you want that day. When he learned our interests he designed the route while all along the way presenting other options to us, explaining the pros and cons of each option. As such, the day provided us with amazing memories of places we might never have found on our own. Jim's knowledge of his country and his passion for what he does made the hours fly by as we learned so much about the countryside. By the end of the day we felt as if we had made a new friend and hope our paths cross again some day. If you want a very personal tour, designed just for you then you should certainly contact Jim.
