Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I specifically booked Jim Parstow and a saloon car, a few months ago for my husband, daughter and me to tour the buren and visit the cliffs of Moher. I called Jim the night prior to finalize our itinerary. He informed me that he was out of the country and someone else was doing our tour. I never received an email or a call or any notification about this change. Very unprofessional. I specifically chose this company to book Jim. I was shocked and not at all pleased, and I told him so. The next morning a man in a very old taxi showed up in his stead. No saloon car and no Jim. A quiet man who was simply a driver, not a knowledgeable tour guide at all. He answered questions as best he could and never took us to the special spots for photo ops which I had discussed previously with Jim. This was a very expensive day for us and due to the bad business practice on the part of Mr. Parstow, I highly recommend booking with a different company.

I’m very sorry that you were so disappointed and frankly I’m disappointed in having to reply to my first ever negative review. As I already informed you, our Terms and Conditions clearly state that “Ireland West Tours reserve the right to allocate available drivers to booked tours.” This clause is absolutely necessary as anything can happen to a driver or a vehicle. It is our standard practise to email customers on the night before to inform them when there is a change of driver and I did send you an email about 10 minutes before you called me. All of our vehicles are actually Taxis and are fully compliant with all Irish Legislation with regard to the carrying of passengers and vehicle safety and standards, the vehicle we sent for you is only four years old. The driver has been doing tours for many years and unfortunately this is his first negative Tripadvisor review. Despite my observations, I do apologise for the fact that you were not happy with your experience with us. Jim Parslow

Jim gave a wonderful tour of the Burren, Galway, Connemara and castles and sights along the way. He was patient and really knew the best places to have a bowl of Irish stew or the best fish and chips. It was the best experience and we would absolutely use Jim again!

We spent two days with Jim touring around the West Coast of Ireland; staying in Galway, we traveled one day around Connemara and one day around the Burren. Jim is funny and informative, knows all the spots for a great picture, and ensured we saw everything we wanted and more! We would highly recommend looking up Jim for an adventure around the West of Ireland.

Jim took my family four on a great adventure to small side road where we view countryside, animals grazing, water flowing and amazing terrain. I have a 14 year old and 16 year old that thouroughly enjoyed an 8 hour day trip that was captivating and interesting. Not only were the sites great, but Ji, took us for a delicious lunch at the Cloverfox in Connemara. The day ended with four happy travelers thanks to Jim.

Believe the reviews. I booked and organized a Connemara day trip through Jim, and Pat was our driver. Both are a pleasure to deal with. On time and on point. I think Pat recognized that our group was a little weary from a big night in Galway, so his approach was low key but informative and friendly.
One of our main intentions was to take some time to hike in the national park, so a private tour like this was our best bet at this time of the year. If you have a group of 4 or more, you can't go wrong with these guys compared to the big bus tours. Highly recommended.

Jim picked us up in Galway for a day of touring. My husband and I had been using public transit to get around Ireland, but wanted to see some things off the beaten path. I had a list of sights for the day, to which Jim added a couple extra once he saw how excited my husband was about seeing castle ruins. He kept us entertained all day and gave us lots of time at each stop; he also took some amazing photos of us, which was a nice change from vacation selfies! We were supposed to take a ferry to one of the Aran Islands in the evening, but the ferry departed early without us, despite Jim calling earlier in the day to confirm our passage. Jim stayed with us to sort the situation out and ended up driving us back to Galway and booking a really nice B&B for us there. His exceptional customer service saved the evening, which threatened to leave us stranded without lodging in Doolin. My husband and I both agreed the day we spent with Jim was our favorite day of our vacation! Extremely fond memories, and we'd book again with him in a heartbeat the next time we're back.

We met up with Jim from Ireland West Tours the day after we arrived in Ireland and Galway. My brother had recommended getting a personal tour guide, and we are still thrilled with how wonderful Ireland West Tours was. We told Jim that we were pretty flexible, but that we definitely wanted to see the Cliffs of Moher that day. After he let us know our options, Jim called ahead to check the weather conditions and availability for the ferry tour. He asked us about what we wanted to bring home as souvenirs, and took us to an out of the way store that had great prices and a wonderful selection. We went on to ride the ferry (seeing the Cliffs from the water) then toured around Galway, seeing this absolutely gorgeous and historic area. Jim had a wealth of knowledge as well as a perfect irishman's delivery. He gave us some recommendations for the remainder of our stay that were right on as well. This was absolutely one of the highlights of an unbelievable trip.

This was the best part of our Ireland stay. Patrick is so knowledgeable. Not just about history, but also the culture. I learned so much from him and we sang Irish songs together all the way back to Galway.

My now~fiancé and I took a recent trip with Ireland west tours and had such a wonderful day. We coordinated with Jim to have Patrick pick us up from Shannon airport and drive us to our Galway hotel and for Patrick to take us on a tour of Connemara the next day. Patrick was kind, had a good sense of humor, and was very knowledgeable about the area. Our day in Connemara was amazing. Patrick covered a lot of ground, beat the tour buses, and took us to so many beautiful areas. We even got to stop in on his friend who gives sheep herding demonstrations with his sheep dog pups.
But Jim and Patrick also coordinated with my fiancé for his proposal in Connemara National Park. They were discrete and the whole day was planned perfectly! Thanks Jim and Patrick for the most perfect day! Would highly recommend this tour company and plan to use them in the future to see Dingle!

My friend and I spent two wonderful days in August/September with Jim touring to Connemara and to the Cliffs.
I asked Jim to go mainly on back roads and show us some nice views to take pictures and all the hidden gems he recommends.
He was just fabulous. He knows so much about his country and has a great sense of humour.
He drove with us on back roads no bus can drive on and the boat trip to the Cliffs was just an outstanding experience. He made sure that we went on a fast boat which goes further than the other boats do.
The two trips were designed to meet our special wishes to get us off the beaten paths.
On these tours we saw much more than one can see on bus tours. Next time when I come to Ireland I hope to see some of other parts of Ireland together with Jim.
