Pleasant surprise in a new shopping centre to see part of the old city wall. Very well integrated into the design. Modern latte set sitting next to it drinking coffee.

Odd place to build your mall, but there it is built to encompass the old city walls. City walls lose some of their charm, I think.

Within the Eyre Square Mall are a portion of the original Galway City walls from the 1200s. Surrounded by shopping, this historic gem is certainly in an unusual location. I am glad they spared this when they built the walls and reached this unusual compromise....More

It never occurred to me when we went into a shopping center and I imbibed coffee while my wife shopped that afterwards we would find historical artifacts and learn so much about the history of Galway. A serendipitous and pleasant discovery.

The mall is good, a bunch of good shops with great deals. I love some medieval stuff however, a bit odd to have such a historic wall in the same place you can buy a pair of socks....

One one hand, it was odd to see such antiquities encased in a shopping mall. On the other, it was great to see the old preserved and new thriving all in the same locale.

Interesting place to visit - quick stop off as you are visiting town but nothing that is overwhelmingly important to see - if you are in the area go check it out but not likely worth a specific planned stop. Cool to see the wall...More

Ran into the mall to buy something we had forgotten to pack and there it is - a lovely piece of the original city wall of Galway. Somehow, right in the middle of all the stores, it reminds you where you are. I smiled!

It is a lovely piece of history but I’m not sure I like how it is tucked away in a shopping centre and there are Children’s rides scattered around it. I feel like there should be more significance placed upon it!

I enjoyed shopping here in Eyre Square. All the shops you want are here! the medieval walls are a lovely touch within the building. There are many ways into the shopping centre from different streets so do watch the entrance you come in through if you want...More
