Gone downhill massively. Sad really. It used to be a place you could be guaranteed of a good experience — no more. Poor quality starters especially, meat dishes – "What meat is this?"Awful waiting staff who think they are hilarious — go away, I just want to eat and talk with my family; too much hurry up and wait; oh, we totted up the wrong bill — well, that's your fault, our manager says we are far too busy to consider it's our problem. With regret, a family tradition comes to an end after so many years. Now, the search for a decent place to eat in Galway resumes... C'est la guerre.

On a recommendation from the hotel we were staying in we decided to book this beautiful restaurant for dinner. On arrival we were received a very warm welcome and give a lovely table. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The menu is very extensive with a big emphasis on local producers. I must compliment Anna who helped us with her great knowledge of the menu in choosing our dishes which didn’t disappoint especially the dessert. Thanks for helping with the coeliac options also you were very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and certainly will return on our next visit to this fabulous city. Continued success to you all .

Came on a rainy evening with a formal reservation. Restaurant was very busy . We had a reservation for 8:30 (second round). No table ready, no attention to our arrival….Clearly the team had no more stamina. Food was great but the poor service received made the whole experience so miserable. A little ownership or management oversight could have help. Bottom line not worth the price they charge !

I have no problem paying for good quality food tonight I paid E38 for black sole no problem with that, price as per menu, , what I have a problem with is veg and potatoes, chips, the main came with 4 small potatoes between 4 of us and when I asked for veg and potatoes it was like I asked for their first born. When u pay 38E for a main course , seriously how much is veg which they charged extra for. Onother issue I booked for a table of 4 on Wednesday as their phones were down on Tuesday, I was told onlly outdoor available, I went to the toilet 3 times between 7 and 9 and there was plenty of room inside to accommodate us, when I brought this to the attention of the manager he disagreed, but I'm not blind. When we are traveling, we rarely go back to the same restaurant twice, as we like to explore as much as possible. But Kirwan’s Lane is so fabulous that we had dinner there two of the four nights we spent in Galway. Everything we had - the mussels, the scallops, the seabass, the oysters (!!!), the hake, the crème brûlée, even the bread - was so delicious and satisfying! The service on our first visit was top-notch. (On our second visit, it appeared they should better train their wait staff. Our server was very pleasant but couldn’t discuss the menu at all and had to be reminded several times to bring our check.) We wholeheartedly recommend Kirwan’s Lane and we’ll be back when we are next in Galway!

I've eaten here a few times and the food is always delicious and fresh. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Wine menu needs updating imo and prices are in general very high

We came for the oysters and they didn’t disappoint. Excellent pints of Guinness as companions.
We tried the Hake and the Sea Bass dishes, our son had the Seafood Chowder with real chips on the side and our daughter received an off-the-menu pasta dish as she is not really into seafood just yet.
Staff were all friendly and helpful as regards menu choices. The service was excellent.

The service was second to none, the staff were just so nice to us. We had been looking forward to this night out all week, but the food was very bland, small portions and over priced.

Lovely time here! Service and food were very good. The place is centrally located but slightly off the beaten track. Fish specials were good. Everything was really fresh. Will be back on our next trip to Galway!
