Whilst on holiday in the west of Ireland we decided that we'd spend an evening at the races. The July race meeting runs for 7 days (if you have the stamina). We had luck with the weather but not with the horses. The craic was mighty, as they say.

The Galway Races was AMAZING!!! I totally recommend. The Irish people are great, such fun and there were live bands everywhere. The race course is lovely and the Guinness Tent well what can I say! Its a huge event in Ireland and is on every year! I have already planned to go next year! Good for friends and couples.

Signage poor. Just couldn't find seafood bar. Had to eat in barn type room. Food fair but so agricultural without any finesse. Young people very drunk . Won't be going again.

My first time 'at the races' and booked the restaurant experience..!!..After hearing of possible traffic problems we did not have any at all....We were very well looked after...the food was lovely...staff were organised and efficient...and the view of the race and finishing post was excellent...thoroughly enjoyed it..!!!

If you're looking for a great day out with friends or family the races at the end of July are the place to be! Gets the city buzzing too and brings a lot of money to the local areas!

I have attended race meets in Punchestown, Leopardstown and Fairy House. Galway blows them all out of the water. It is an excellent race course with world class facilities. The most impressive aspect is that while it is an extremely efficient tourism machine, the staff have not lost any of that Galwegian charm. This may become an annual visit.
