Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide Brian was incredibly funny and kept us entertained throughout the entire hour. He shared plenty of fascinating legends and stories about the city, making the tour both educational and engaging.
The tour was a perfect way to learn about Galway’s rich history and vibrant culture. Just a heads-up, our guide did speak a bit fast, so be prepared to keep up. Overall, it was an interesting and enjoyable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Galway!

I can not recommend this tour enough. I wish we would have taken the tour the first day we were in Galway because our guide gave us great recommendations on what to see outside the tour, as well as where to eat and drink. The tour itself was tightly written and delivered by our charming and incredibly knowledgeable guide Michael. He mixed in personal stories, current Irish culture and good bit of humor into what is otherwise a very historical look at the city. Take this tour, you wont regret it.

The tour was fascinating! My wife and I were in Galway for our honeymoon/one year anniversary, and wanted to know the history of the city. We saw the brochure in our hotel, and walked to the meeting spot in time for the 2 PM tour. The tour guide, Ana, was super friendly and signed us up on the spot. Best practice, though, is to book in advance to make sure they have enough room!
Once we got under way, Ana told us a lot of interesting facts and anecdotes about the city, including how landmarks were moved, and that you shouldn't let truth get in the way of a good story. Ana set a good pace, getting us from point to point in a speedy but easy to follow manner that gave us more time to learn at each stop. We learned much about the history of Galway, and it made us appreciate our stay here all the more.

Dylan gave a terrific tour of Galway that oriented to the history, landmarks, geography, humor, and charm of this city. He was generous with suggestions of restaurants and places to listen to traditional Irish music. We were worried a bit that there would be some gimmick with a free tour but not so. The guides are paid by however much you think the tour was worth, so they work hard to ensure a great experience.

You have no control over Irish weather but it was a credit to Connor as to how engaged all of us and overcame this with a very good fun fact presentation of key historical events that has shaped the culture and vibe of the city of Galway. The meeting point was central and it was a high quality 90 minutes. He was a fun young man and brought the tour to life. I highly recommend Tribes Tours.

We fell upon this tour company while exploring the city. It was great! Our tour guide Ana was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and all of its historical sites. We later did the pub crawl with her and it was such a blast. Highly recommend this tour company and Ana!

I was in Galway for a few hours before I bumped into Connor at a pub, who told me that he was leading a walking tour of Galway the very next day. Happy days, I did zero planning for this weekend away and walking tours are usually so good. And this one was no exception, Connor is a knowledgable guide, a gifted storyteller, and a talented singer to boot. Extra bonus points for explaining much of the historical context in a sense yet clear opening segment. Would certainly recommend this tour to anyone!

Eilish was an absolutely fantastic guide. We were so glad we chose to start our day in Galway with the tour, it gave us an idea of the layout of the city and Eilish gave some great recommendations on where to go, and it allowed us to get our bearings a little. The tour was historical, informative, funny and very engaging and Eilish is clearly very passionate about where she lives. Galway is such a beautiful place and I would highly recommend that you choose this company to show you around and tell you some stories of it’s past. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you :)

Our guide was Michael and he was excellent. Our experience on tours in other places has often been marked by a lot of fictionalized or exaggerated history. Michael told us the lore and then the facts on a number of locations. It was refreshing. Galway has too much to cover everything in 90 minutes but we felt we hit the key spots and learned a great deal in an entertaining fashion. Highly recommended

We arrived at our meeting point. Brian, our guide was already there, checked us in, and the tour started 2 at 11:00. He immediately put us at ease, and proceeded tho lead us through Galway’s historic sites, while regaling us with the history of this wonderful city.
His pace, both walking and talking, was just right. He was aware of those in his group, as well as the surrounding public, always conscious of not blocking traffic or pedestrians.
Anyone wanting a great walking tour should book this tour!

We are planning a group of 80 people coming in February of 2021. Would be interested in a tour of Galway city during the day and perhaps a pub crawl in the evening. Wondering if you could accommodate us and if so how many groups would we split into.
Just in the very beginning stages of planning things and looking for things to do.
Thanks,
Dennis Madigan

Hi Dennis,
apologies for the late reply, I'm afraid your message got lost in the madness of the pandemic.
We would certainly be able to accommodate a group of that size. If you still wish to discuss it, please get in contact with us through our website!
All the best,
Michael

Is there a tip for the guide at the end of the tour? Is that how they make their money? We did 2 tours that way in Barcelona and they were great. The guides earned good tips!
