the owner didn't pay the man who did the work! This pub should be boycotted! The owner did not pay an honourable workman & artisan who spent many hours creating a fantastic piece of traditional craft. To leave a family without monies due at this time of year says a lot about the owners of this establishment. Avoid.

Not a good pub by any stretch , slow uninterested service , wouldn't go back there . And some locals there were telling us that the owner owes a local man over 10 grand for the thatching of the roof ?

I dropped into this pub, i see it has been re thatched, and a good job too. However i also discovered that the man who did the work has not been paid. For that reason , when back in Galway, i will not be going back there again. Disgusted to think that , i had admired the fine work of... More

Met a fellow walking with a board outside the pub. He was trying to highlight that while the pub was open the owner was refusing to pay for worked carried out on the thatch roof of the bar. An amount reaching into the 10's of thousands. The work looked very good but not being an expert I can't say but... More

Poor service, nice thatch. Shame they scammed an honest thatcher for it! Would have been a nicer place to visit if it hadn't been for the the fact the guy laughs about it to his customers

Went into pub around 930pm: It was quiet at first then was packed within the hour; after the races finished. There was many barmen on, to cope with the crowds. The barstaff were fine, but could come across friendlier. We had a couple of drinks, left before the music came on. I think it would be a nicer pub on... More

We stayed 3 nights at Desota B&B which is across the road 50 yards down. I have never been in a pub where we were welcomed by such genuine friendliness. This was tested when we won €150 in their lottery and the welcome the next night was just the same. Our thanks to Dave, the landlord, the staff and all... More

Nice chilled out local pub, not a tourist trap like so many others in Galway. Good Guinness, nice staff and locals

We went to Cooke's on a recommendation from a local musician and had a fine time. We intended to go there for dinner but learned on our arrival that they don't serve food, so we got Chinese from the takeaway over the road and found a corner to drink our pints and eat our supper until the session started. The... More
