Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You want to impress someone, a lady, a bloke, the boss, the in laws, the outlaws, well here's the perfect way. Spend 2 - 2 1/2hrs sailing around Dublin bay on this 53 foot beauty. Does it matter if you don't sail, absolutely not. But you might get sea sick. Not on a sailboat. Scratch that. This is most definitely a yacht!!! And I would know I get sea sick.
2hrs of sheer bliss. The wind blowing across the deck. The power of it heeling the boat, sorry yacht, over in the water. (No need to worry, the skippers, in our case, Breff and Clyde{ hope I spelt that correctly, sorry if I didn't!} were really good at sussing out whether those on board were comfortable with a little heel, or in our case quite a bit at times)
Anyone who felt up to it could take over the wheel and sail it under the lads careful tutelage mind, but you can't really blame them as she's a beaut. And as Breff said to me, there's no real excuse for hitting anything with grass on in it in the middle of Dublin Bay!!! This at 25knotts, a nice heel on the deck and the waves beginning to break over the bough.
The best way of describing the experience would be to imagine the conversation of two redneck chatting over their dream girl and dream car at the same time. You walk along the quay to see this beautiful boat ( their rednecks after all!), beautiful lines, sleek, curves in all the right places. Your impressed to be standing beside her, to be aboard as she glides out of the harbour, now that's neat. And the the skipper puts up the sail, stands back, and says, 'it's all yours, just do as we say, I'm right beside you.' The wind snaps the sail full and she bites and you feel the power of the 8 or so tonne lean over and slice through the water. Sweet as....
Boy does it get the adrenaline pumping, feeling a strong gust trying to what seems like capsize her, while the lads balance the sails while getting you to correct the steering. And you can't cheat and take your foot off the gas. You take whatever Mother Nature throws at you. On a light breeze you sit back and take in the lovely sites and stories from the lads, and then when it gets up to a force 4-5 as it did with us you sit up straight and play BLOODY close attention to what the lads are saying and this lady is high maintenance and takes careful watching!!!
Cheers lads. Hope to see you again in the future'
Rory.

Our group of 5 friends spent a week on 'Explorer of Westport' in Lanzarote over Hallowe'en. It proved to be a fantastic holiday, enjoyed equally by the experienced sailors and novices.
The boat was in perfect condition and Bref was an excellent host. Anchoring overnight was a great experience - especially the pre-breakfast swim and learning to use the paddle boards. We would definitely recommend this trip for anyone interested in an adventure holiday, with a little bit of luxury. It really good value and is suitable for friends or family.

We had a fantastic time sailing the Dublin Bay with Aaron and Bref. They were perfect hosts who obviously love their jobs. They provided information on the mechanics of sailing without making it too technical and graciously helped those on the crew who wanted to take a turn as "Captain". They happily answered questions that they probably hear each and every day. I will definitely book another trip (or two) with Go Sailing when I return to Ireland with my kids. Well done!

The brochure for go sailing advertises 2- 3 hours FROM as little as 35 euro;
Ensure that you are aware of the cost as I went out with them recently expecting to pay 35 euros, we were only out for 2 hours & the first half hour icluded getting our lifejackets on & the walk out across the Marino to the boat.
I paid 50 euro & as I was not given 15 euro in change, on disembarkation I asked if I was due the 15 euro, to which I was told that was the cost 50euro. This however was NOT made clear. I was put out bt the curt way in which I was told & felt misled as I doubt if I would have paid 50 euro to go out with them. He said that the 35 euro was for corporate hire, well actually the maths do not tally as the boat has passenger capacity for 12, & it costs 995 euro to go. Check the brochure & ensure that you know the full cost before booking to avoid a shock.
I would not have paid 50 as a trip around Dublin Bay & out to Howth & back plus 20% off lunch @ up to 5 restuarants only costs 28 euro. Now that is good value. Granted my Go Sailing experience was very enjoyable, especially as we all had the oppoertunity to steer the boat which was quite a thrill. We were not offered as much as a cup of tea or coffee. For 2 hours I think it was too expensive.

Dear Jhanna K, Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to write a review of our product at gosailing.ie. We are now finishing our 5th season of operation and always welcome feedback from customers as to their experience on board. I am extremely sorry you feel your experience onboard did not provide you with value for money. I feel it is unfair to compare our offering with a transit of the bay with 95 other passengers on a small ship. Dublin Bay Cruises offer a fantastic service but do so on a large scale and it is an inherently different offering. We offer a sailing 'experience' and endeavour to offer our guests a chance to participate and engage in the operation of the vessel and a personal insight into the historical and natural features of our coastline. I am happy that you enjoyed the 'thrill' of driving the boat and that is what we endeavour to give all our guests. We have over 5000 satisfied customers to date and I sincerely regret that you felt you were dealt with in a curt manner, so in this spirit please get in touch and we will organise a full refund of your trip. Best Regards Aaron O'Grady

We took this trip as part of a year-end graduation party. It was an excellent way to spend 4 hours. The crew is fun, relaxed, and helps you make the most of the trip by pointing out landmarks and providing a good bit of history. Seeing Ireland from the water is one of the best ways to see it, and really provides a different prospective from what you'd get touring the streets of Dublin. If you're visiting Dublin, definitely pop down to Dun Laoghaire and go for a sail.

We joined Aaron on Explorer for 6 nights sailing out of Villagarcia near Santiago de Compostella. Cruised around the Rias visiting pretty marinas and towns. Aaron arranged the required permits to visit the Islas Cies which was a highlight with amazing scenery and beautiful walks. Fantastic weather was a bonus! Bref and Aaron even caught a Tuna so we had beautiful fresh fish for lunch! A great boat, great comfort and great company! Lucky people sailing around the Canaries over the winter with Bref and Aaron!

Myself & a friend went sailing with Go Sail yesterday, Sunday 18th Aug 2013. It was our first time to go sailing & we didn't know what to expect really. It was fantastic! I can see now why people would be bitten by the sailing bug. It's a fantastic buzz. Breff & Sean were great & very professional. The scenery was beautiful from out on the water & we had some history of the area thrown in too. There's an amazing quietness when you're out on the water & the contrast of that with the power of the sea is breath taking. We will most definitely be doing this again. Many thanks for a great trip.

My girlfriend and I booked a sailing experience with GoSailing on the 6th of July. The day was amazing, sun shining, 20 degrees, perfect weather for a boat trip. Go Sailing is not just a boat trip, it's a sailing lesson and a history lesson all in one, with a sprinkle of great scenery and a little bit of peace and relaxation. Both Aaron and Bref, the 2 guys owning the boat, are great at offering information about the places you visit and about sailing The boat is awesome, over 17 meters long, very clean and neat. It is a "must do" experience in Dublin, especially if the weather is sunny. A word of advice though - even if there are 20 degrees outside and the wind doesn't blow on land, be prepared to have a pretty strong breeze on the boat. A summer jacket doesn't hurt to bring along if you plan on doing this trip.

My husband and I took our two children, age 11 and 8, for a few hours sailing with Aaron and Bref. As other reviewers have commented, it's a great way to experience Dublin. The coastline is stunning and we sailed from Dun Laoghaire marina down past Dalkey Island and around Killiney Bay. The 54ft yacht is beautiful and the guys are great - full of experience and local knowledge - it was a really fun trip. Obviously you can never bank on the Dublin weather to be sunny but a good sailing wind is not usually a problem! And the beauty of Ireland has to be experienced in all weathers!! Very highly recommended.

Went with Go Sailing on a beautiful August morning out into the Dublin Bay to see off the tall ships. It was sensational. A group of 12 almost starngers left Dun Laoghiare marina at 10.00 and spent the morning/afternoon sialing up-close and personal with the tall ships as they left the bay. Then back to the harbour for a fabulous lunch on board. A great great day all round, everyone knew each other by the end of the trip and everyone looking forward to the next opportunity. The people who own and run this are fantastic - a really classy operation all round. Highly recommended.
