- Lenka B2 contributionsGreat tour through an amazing history of Irish music!Amazing experience! Our guide Alan (in a great cardigan) was excellent, we've enjoyed his stories and personal views on many musicians and he took us on an incredible journey through history of Irish music. I did'n expect much (went only 'cos of my hubby who loves U2), but it turned to be one hell of a rock'n'roll rollercoaster. Thank you Alan! You are the right man in a right place - you've made it really special. Would happily come again. Thanks a lot.Hi Lienocka69, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re delighted you had such a good time on tour with Alan. He definitely brings a wealth of knowledge. We will pass on your compliments to Alan. - Caroline F1 contributionThe Pogues, Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher and many others are waiting for you🤘!!!Excellent time spent in this museum. It is full of places and objects loaded with Irish Rock (which is not limited to U2!), but not only that... Like this legendary poster for the Nirvana concert scheduled for April 8, 1994 and which never took place.. Aymeric, our guide knew his subject well and was very friendly and full of humor which made this visit even more enjoyable! Good luck to this exceptional museum! - Sylvain MParis, France1 contributionImmersion in Irish pop-rockIt looks like it! Collection/Museum located in the heart of Temple bar, the paving stones shine in the drizzle, hidden entrance doors, we wander through the maze of studios between vinyls, consoles and red carpet, our guide Aymeric, fun, live and teasing, punctuates this Temple lane's tour of information and juicy anecdotes about the ghosts who haunt* these walls (alive too, the studios are still recording and the concert hall - La Machine du Moulin rouge atmosphere - deserves a future evening). At any moment the figures of Irish rock could come out of a recording; IMMERSIVE!Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the museum and felt the museums energy and life, we are also happy to hear that you enjoyed having Aymeric's as your tour guide and that you found him fun and alive. your kind words will be passed onto Aymeric. - Chanse M2 contributionsIlluminatingI can for Rory Gallagher, and came to find that many of my favorite artists were actually Irish! The tour itself was amazing, but what made the history come to life was the depth of knowledge and the passion of our tour guide, Alan. Alan is dedicated to this history as much as the museum itself is in its preservation of it. I appreciate his passion for the topic, and his commitment to sharing that knowledge. I definitely recommend this tour, and if you can, to secure Alan as your guide.thank you for taking the time to leave us a review we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the museum and that Alan made your trip special and that you could see his passion for the music and the history of music, your kind words will be passed onto Allan, we hope to see you again soon. - LRF58 contributionsEducational and fun!The museum was quite interesting and the tour was a lot of fun. Our guide, Marisa, led us through a number of rooms where we saw exhibits on Irish musicians and learned about their music. Marisa was excellent -- very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She knew a lot, and was able to answer our questions. I learned a lot about people besides the more famous Irish rockers. Especially fun was when we went into a studio, and people in our group were able to jam on various instruments. Definitely worth seeing in Dublin if you like Rock music.Hi There Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy to hear you had an educational and fun tour with Marisa. With the amazing guide Alan - who was knowledgeable, professional and very entertaining - we walked through different rooms and heard about modern Irish music and all the artists in which Rory Gallagher seems to have a central role. The whole family thought it was very good. Get over here! Visit! And make sure to get Alan as Guide - the best guide!Hi KlJPe, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. - Pamela DTrieste, Italy1 contributionA special placeThe rock ‘n roll museum is a must for those who love rock, an intimate and welcoming place steeped in history and passion. Moving within the same spaces frequented by the greatest artists who have made the history of music is a unique emotion. In this experience we were accompanied and guided by Alan, who immediately managed to create a pleasant atmosphere in the heterogeneous group of visitors. Between a joke, an anecdote and a story he transmitted to us the love for those places and artists he knows like his pocket. Once again, thank you Alan!Hi Pamela Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're glad you enjoyed your tour with Alan and appreciate the unique setting of the museum. Most amazing part is this museum is actually a working studio so very much get that vibe. Bryan is a great guide, very knowledgeable and definitely knows his music. U2 room & thin lizzy studio are both a must. Fantastic tributes to Phil Lynnott & Rory Gallagher. Well worth an hour of your time in DublinHi David Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. The tour was absolutely amazing !
Our tourguide Alan was the funniest most interesting guide ever and commented the tour through the museum in an informative but very charming way.
It was definitely worth the ticketprice and i would recommend it to everyone interested in rock and roll or irish music history.
The tour was long enough to ask questions and make pictures ,which was even encouraged, but still it was never boring.
I would always visit the museum again.

I ran into this unmissable place while visiting the Temple Bar area and I highly recommend you stop by as well (but better to book your ticket in advance).
The tour exhibits instruments, albums and more personal items from iconic musicians. You will also visit rehearsal rooms, a recording studio and a proper stage that smell like rock and beer.
Our tour guide Alan was absolutely knowledgeable and passionate and listening to him was a real pleasure! You’ll never wear a pyjama like you used to after visiting the museum…
The tour is about 1.5 h long.

I pass the rock museum almost every day and have always wanted to do a tour. Brian was really engaging, upbeat, and knowledgeable and made the tour fun as well as informative. I was amazed at the amount of famous artistes, Irish and international, who have recorded, rehearsed, and performed here. Would recommend this tour to music lovers of all ages.

Being in Dublin for vacation and since I am an addict for Irish folk and rock music, I decided to visit this venue. Perhaps I expected too much, that' why I left very disappointed! 26 eur for 1 hour walking up and down on narrow steps and dark corridors, visiting some allegedly called music rooms with poor facilities, no lightning and old records and photos on the walls. Some music somewhere on the background. Our venue guide, although pretty enthusiastic for her job, tried very hard to cover this visit with endless descriptions and past happenings. Boring to death...20 minutes spent in a projection room watching a terrible copy of Irish rock history! You can find much more interesting quality videos on YouTube! The whole thing was a joke, embarrassing the rich Irish music tradition and us visitors! Shame really! Avoid it please!

thank you for thanking the time to leave us a review we are disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy the museum as we do strive to have a large collection of memorabilia from lots of famous Irish artists, we would like to thank you for letting us know that some parts of the museum may need some improvement as an independent museum we are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience and the museum is part of a working venue so we understand there might be wear and tear and we will look into the issues you have mentioned, we hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip in Dublin.

Amazing tour! Amazing tour guide: Alan! We did not want the tour to end and stories to stop being told. Alan was mixing personal stories, anecdotes and facts about the bands and musicians in a spellbinding way. When it was over you were left feeling all emotions: happy, inspired, melancholy and hungry for even more. Recommending this tour to anyone, whether you’re already a music fan or not (you’ll become one)

I did this tour on Dec 27th. It was amazing. Our tour guide was Emily and she was amazing too. She was very knowledgeable in regard to the music and the artists, but most of all it was her personality. She interacted with the people on the tour in a way which made them and their contributions appreciated. She went out of her way to engage with the only child on the tour and had her playing the drums which earned her a clap from all present. Good value and a very enjoyable tour

Thank god it’s not a tourist trap! And that’s mostly thanks to our tour guide Alan.
We were lucky enough to take the tour with just Alan and the two of us.
Alan is a lovely guy full of wit and a huge knowledge of the Irish music history and present.
He is a tour guide with personal connection and stories to a lot of Irish artists.
The museum is jampacked with perifernalia of the amazing rich Irish musical history. We were amazed how much music and bands we recognized and found out them to be Irish.
The beauty of the museum is, we think, it is a working music business operation. During the tour we saw musicians, roadies, dancers and singers passing by!
All in all; the best tour in Dublin and may be even one of the best tours we’ve ever had!! Go where the music takes you!

Although I can't speak to any of the other tour guides for this museum, I couldn't imagine we would've had near the same experience had we not had Scott as our tour guide. He greeted us with great enthusiasm and although it was a great first impression, it didn't scratch the surface of what the next two hours would hold for us. I am not going to put any spoilers in this review because you have to see this place for yourself, but if you are even the slightest fan of rock music, this tour will blow you away. It's not a bright, clean, fancy exhibit, it's dark, grungy, and raw, exactly how any rock band gets their start. Scott has such a passion for music and the evolution of the genre - he is a true gem and an asset to this company. Our group was from the four corners of the world but by the end of the tour he had us all on common ground where we even exchanged contact information. There aren't many people who can do something like that - even crossing language barriers in 60-90 minutes. Music was meant to unify people, to remind us all that we're in this life together, a concept Scott continued to reiterate throughout the tour. He's truly an incredible human and made the trip one my husband and I will remember for a lifetime.

This was the first activity during my holiday to Dublin and also one that was not listed on Get Your Guide. Upon arrival I was amazed by the enthusiasm, so the couple for me could not join the tour.
Are you a Solo Traveler? Go! I could still join the tour and what kind of one!
Scott knew a lot to tell but also gave the opportunity to read and review everything at your leisure.
A real tip for every music lover; The museum first served as a music studio from which songs were made that everyone undoubtedly knows! So plan this museum whether you are alone or not!

I'm very interested in taking this tour, but do NOT want to pretend to be on stage playing drums or guitar. Do you have to participate in that? Definitely a deal breaker for me.
Written 15 January 2023
Hi there,
Please rest assured that you absolutely do not have to do that. As part of the tour, we do give the opportunity to try the instruments in our 'Jam Room', but this is in no way compulsory. We frequently get musicians on the tour and this moment sometimes provides an unplanned bit of live music, but it is only for fun and is never forced. The tour is primarily a journey through Temple Lane Studios, complete with stories memorabilia and hopefully a good few laughs along the way. It's a very relaxed tour, we hope you join us soon.
