This is a quick brisk climb. No special gear required. It is windy at the top so bring a jumper or jacket. It is quite steep towards the top but many families with small children climbed it on the same day as us. If you get a clear day you get a 360 view of the Wicklow Mountains, Howth Head... More

We climbed Sugarloaf with our 11 & 8 yr olds on a very windy February morning. The climb is fairly steep but manageable. The views from the summit are amazing and definitely worth the climb. Kids enjoyed their first mountain climb! You also have the option to do a circular walk around Sugarloaf. There is a walk to follow with... More

If you fancy a longer walk park at the GAA club and walk around the side of the mountain before the ascent. Best to try and walk up the left side towards the top and on the left side when coming down. It helps with the flow when busy. Definitely worth the walk for amazing views

We were heading to Glendalough when passing this mountain and decided to turn and stop here instead. I am glad we did. It was frosty, but sunny day and great day for outdoors. Walk seemed to get harder and harder and last bit looked really steep. There were families with small kids and and quite a few dog owners, so... More

A distinctive cone in the Wicklow area. We passed horses and sheep grazing on our way up. We had better views a third of the way up because the top was in a cloud, but still a very enjoyable hike.

I have been up the Great Sugar Loaf a number of times previously but it's been a while. We were lucky enough to be there last week on one of the best days of the summer. It was absolutely stunning, the colour of the heathers & patchwork fields from the base sweeping back over the countryside all added to the... More

We hiked Great Sugarloaf Mountain. Fantastic views. There were a lot of families making the hike. The hike gets very tricky @ the top, climbing on rocks, some of which are loose. Proper footwear is a must. It took about 30 minutes to complete the climb.
