Legendary venue, great staff and well priced drinks. I am sick of the corporate chain live music venues charging ridiculous prices, and they wonder why people stay drinking outside til the last minute. Whelan's is different and the drinks, including a great pint of Guinness, were priced lower then the nearby pubs. The balcony gives a great view of the stage, the sound for the Dublin Ska Festival was superb. A great place.

Love this pub. Music is brilliant, pub is large lots of space. Bar staff really quick at serving and very friendly. Door staff friendly too for smokers and those outside having a chat. Drinks reasonably priced. Love this pub, so much fun. Great night☘️

Visited here with family to attend The Coronas gig on their Long Way Hime Tour. It was unreal. Fantastic atmosphere, staff were amazing. The pub was packed as expected and no one was waiting to be served. There was one man taking two or three orders at a time. Great service from experienced staff. Well done Whelans. Would highly recommend a visit if in Dublin City.

Came to Whelans as it is a bit of a holy grail for Ham Sandwich and wanted to see them in Dublin, rather than London. So glad we made the trip. Good sized, if somewhat cosy venue with balcony as well as the ground floor to see bands. The ground floor is flat so if you are not that tall, recommend the balcony or small set of stairs at the back of the auditorium. There was a screen above the band as well. Went into the pub after the gig which stayed open late as was a good place to wind down after seeing the band. The venue is a little way out from the centre but we walked in and out in 30 minutes each way.

Visited on Sunday 12th with some friends and was turned away at the door, being simply told "not tonight, i don't need to give you a reason" and "don't lose sleep over it", with no explanation. We were civilised, polite, well dressed and completely sober at that point. The doorman seemed incredibly smug and enjoyed the power of being able to reject people for no reason. Embarrassing and disappointing experience.
