On a wet Sunday afternoon, met with Guide Paul, and had a wonderful tour of this old graveyard, which is usally locked. Paul was an excellent guide and we really enjoyed it. The rest of the Building is equally well worth a visit. This was a free tour as part of the Dublin 8 celebrations. Will definitely return with the... More

I have never been all that comfortable with the use of this fantastic building as a modern art gallery. Today's visit confirmed that. Real pity that the Dining Hall & chapel are not generally open. Still, the building, formal gardens & good small museum make the visit worthwhile. Oh yeah, the recorded Muslim call to prayer is a very nice... More

The hospital is steeped in history, and after its refurbishment, is now the Museum of Modern Art. If you are into Modern Art, this might be for you. I’m not, so I will say nothing negative about the exhibits. Some items were of interest, but overall I thought it was fairly limited in the number of exhibits housed there. The... More

This gateway is opposite the entrance to the goal. There is a tram stop for the hospital. There is a rather handsome art deco building just by the tram stop.

We enjoyed the bits about the history of the property and the veteran's care but were totally unimpressed with the art museum. The gardens, however, were beautiful and we had a bright sunshiny October day to enjoy them. Plan a few minutes here when you leave the jail tour. You can walk over in a couple of minutes and entry... More

Attended a gala dinner last night. From the piper greeting us on the red carpet to the last beat of the bodhran drummer it was a fantastic evening. The location is stunning with beautiful works of art as well as the wonderful architecture. The food and the whole presentation was beautifully executed.

This former hospital also houses the museum of modern art for ireland. This was free to enter and is one of the stops from the city bus tour ride. The modern art museum was well laid out and caught the imagination with its exhibits. There is an excellent cafe which is worth visiting for lunch. The grounds are also worth... More

Because of it's history as a British hospital for injured soldiers, it was forgotten for many years and languished in a state of semi-decay due to political hostility and indifference. In this new era of celebrating our Irish identity in terms of its different cultural and historical traditions, the wonderfully constructed and historical buildings surrounding a central quadrangle have been...
