Overview
More
Underneath the church are five long burial vaults containing the mummified remains of many of Dublin's most influential 17th, 18th and 19th century families, including the legendary Shears brothers and the highly decorated coffins of the Earl's of Leitrim. Since Victorian times visitors have descended the vault steps to see the mummies and Bram Stoker, creator of the "Dracula" stories is believed to have visited the vaults in the company of his family. In one vault can be seen the remains of the "Crusader" though in fact he is only 650 years dead. The early visitors to the vaults were responsible for many of the myths and legends surrounding the bodies, though modern scientific investigations have cast doubts on many of these stories. Nevertheless, a visit to the Crypts to see the historic mummies is a remarkable experience.

Couldn’t find any details or information of the tours online, only that it was 6 Euro entry. Arrived to find that the two tours of the day had finished and the woman in the visitor centre was only interested in speaking to the people with...More

This was a complete waste of time. The person giving the tour was downright bizarre. All to see three very dusty mummies. I was looking forward to visiting this church, but it turned out to be my least favorite thing in Dublin.

The church as well as the surroundings are really a let down (could be booked as a horror movie location). Entering the crypt is a challenge... look at the pictures on TA and you see what/who is waiting for you "downstairs"! Mummies are surely attracting...More

Probably not as well known as some of the other main Dublin attractions, but very interesting nonetheless. Can get very close to the coffins/mummies and hear about their history (one of the mummies was a 17th century nun that lived to be over 100). I...More

Loved the gent who gave us the tour, my bf and I were imitating him for the rest of our trip, fabulous fellow. The crypts are really cool, the mummies are great to see up close and the stories are interesting (traitors being drawn and...More

This is a less than hour tour of some truly amazing architecture and crypts. Be aware that they only take cash. The guide was humorous and personalized it by tying everyone's home country in some way into the tour. He did a great job!

For me it was not easy to find. But it was worth the effort. The guide is the star of the visit due to his non standard way of telling the stories. I would recommend this attraction.

This is a short and inexpensive tour but REALLY cool. You get to see actual mummies up close and personal in the church crypts.

Yes the tour is a bit more corny than most, but it’s fun, and our guide was friendly and easy to get along with. The mummies were very interesting, as were their stories. The church is plain, but beautiful in its own stately way. Plan...More

After yesterday’s Black Cab Tour of Belfast, I enjoyed the contrast of this more light-hearted crypt tour. I wish I’d gotten the guide’s name; he made the tour what it is! Ancient mummies in a crypt under an old church, and a guide with a...More

It was 3 or 4 Euros this year. Call ahead to make sure they'll have a tour guide available when you wish to go or you won't get to see the crypt.

Yes, there are tours throughout the day, never any formal times, just present yourself at the door and ask, you might have to wait no more than 30 minutes for a tour to start. Not sure when they close.
