Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's and today is used by the Irish Governemnt for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignatories. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room and St. Patricks Hall.

There is not a lot of castle left but is more Staterooms. But the guide took us to the castle the that remains and her explanation of the history was fascinating. And the Staterooms were worth the visit

As noted, castle is relatively small compared to the other castles in the world. Nonetheless, it is a site in Dublin worth visiting.

We enjoyed our visit to Dublin Castle. The guide was very informative and interesting. However, it's more of a government building than a castle, so keep that in mind when booking.

We only walked around the grounds of the castle. It is quite small by castle standards but it is definitely worth a walk-through. Apparently there is a tour you can take and some people say that it is very interesting and historic. We didn’t have...More

We went on a free family tour. Our guide (a short blonde lady, sorry dont remember your name!) did an excellent job presenting the history of the place from the old viking times up to the present times, very educational for children and adults too!...More

Jennifer gave an excellent tour of the highlights of Dublin castle over an hour. The highlights were definitely the state rooms and the chapel. Beautifully maintained and restored. Well worth the visit!

While Dublin Castle doesn't have the same "wow" factor as those in other capital cities, it's still worth the visit. The tour guide shows how the complex evolved from a Viking era fortress into the modern government center. It was cool to see the base...More

I found Dublin Castle interesting and beautiful! However, I wasn't as excited about it as I was other castles I visited and France and Britain. The history if fascinating though, and it is worth a visit.

So you're thinking that you will probably be seeing knights in armor, wrong. Beautifully elegant rooms, with the most detailed of ceilings and trim. Colors that you wouldn't expect and different fireplaces in every room. The dining room will take your breath away.
