We visited the Chester Beatty Library in late December 2016. We were shown around by a very helpful and knowledgeable volunteer guide. The highlight was seeing the earliest copies of the New Testament. This is a wonderful place and worthy of a repeat visist

This is the highlight of my visit to Dublin. The beauty of the displays are very moving and could have spent time than I had available.Be warned there is no photography and was disappointrd to see some people with mobiles not following the rules. It would be my no 1 place to visit.

Make it a point to seek out the Beatty, which is located on the grounds of Dublin Castle. Free! Great collection of illuminated holy books from most of the world's major religions. If you have done the British Library reading room in London, you will enjoy this unique library too.

Around the back of Dublin Castle, this is a fascinating small museum from which to learn a huge amount, about the man himself but also about books, religion, culture and history. Don't miss it.

This amazing museum was surprisingly hard to find. It's on the same place as Dublin castle, kinda behind it. Not very good signs/instructions. It was free of charge, donations welcome. Spend a lot of time there and still felt like that only had a quick glimpse of all of those things.

OK so it is in the guide books, but even our airb&b hosts didn't know about this gem. A very very fine selection of ancient documents from across many religions, beautifully presented in a very sympathetic way. The history of the collector is also interesting, and the purpose built facility is very fine. Brilliant.
