Very interesting place to visit, full of history. Though pre booking tickets is highly advisable as queues can be long as it is such a popular attraction. Well worth a visit

This is definitely a place you have to visit if you're in town and want to learn something about Irish history. Cheap and accesible with really friendly tour guides is a nice activity. Is doable in less than an hour and it totally worth it!

Our perfect guide Anne let us feel the emotions Irish people have when they talk about their history. Everything we noticed the previous days in between meetings and visits became clear. The impact of the great famine, the 1916 revolution, the difficult relation with GB. The museum was sharing key pieces of history, to a level one rarely sees. The... More

Through the history of the prison you get to understand the history of Ireland. I knew very little about the history of the country but this visit got me curious and I bought a couple of books about it. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I visited the jail on the 12th of January and had a wonderful day! Our tour guide at the 14:15pm tour was very informative and funny and open to all questions (I don't recall her name). Would definitely recommend this to all people and an added bonus was that it only cost us €4 each with our... More

Easily accessible from the city via the light railway. It provides a brief, but interesting, insight into the last century or so of Irish history. Our guide was knowledgeable and the tour length (about 1 hour) was about right. Make sure you wrap up warm as cold and damp in the gaol. Definitely recommend this sight if in Dublin for... More

My partner and I were very pleased with our visit. Our tour guide was very passionate and had some great stories. The jail itself is a sight, especially the main cell area. We were able to get free tickets through the heritage pass but booked well in advance which is a must. Do not miss this attraction when visiting Dublin!
