Visited the Kilmainham Gaol back at the beginning of June along with 7 people from my group and had a great time. We went through the first tour in the morning which was great because it wasn't overly crowded. Leave yourself extra time at the...More

very good tour, the guide was good but a little robotic, and to be fair, he was so busy on the day - a great starting point for people getting into the history of ireland

Had to book a few days in advance as no availability on the day. Very informative guide although somewhat robotic. Good insight into Ireland’s political past.

Our tour guide was charming and knowledgeable, the site was amazing, and the museum was interesting. We learned so much about the history of rebellion in Ireland. Very authentic and uniquely beautiful.

The amazing Anne provided so much knowledge and information about Irish history with passion and humor. Our group of 6 ranged in age from 13 to 75 and all enjoyed the tour immensely. This tour and the EPIC museum are the two must do Dublin...More

Learnt a lot about the history of Irish independence from our fantastic guide Dawn- very knowledgeable, engaging and interesting. Amazing value for money at just 4 euro. Could have spent much longer looking round the exhibition at the end of the tour if we had...More

Although a sad place, it is well worth going. Guided tours are well done and you have plenty of time to take everything in. Also a very good museum attached to Gaol. Free to English Heritage members

Well run tour with enthusiastic guide/storyteller. Groups a bit large for moving about in tight spaces but as it is popular, one must just go along. Non-Irish may have a bit of trouble understanding and also relating to all the Irish nationalist heroes referred to,but...More

The tour of Kilmainham Gaol was one of the 'must-do' attractions on our recent trip to Dublin. As a student, it was VERY affordable (€4) and it was definitely worth every penny. A very knowledgable tour guide escorted us around the ageing prison - seeing...More

I would take my 9 year old. It’s a great historical tour and I think a child that age would enjoy the prison setting and checking out the cells. There is nothing inappropriate for children in the tour, though it does cover... More

The tour does involve stairs and an outdoor area with gravel. The distances are not great and there is a lift for part of the indoor section. It is really a question of how nimble your relative is, but with a cane it should... More
