We stayed at a hotel located on O'Connell street and loved the location so much! You can find everything from Shopping and restaurants to street performers all the way down this road. A taxi is never far away and is only about a 15 minute walk to temple bar and the "south side" of the city.

Taking the Airlink 747 from the airport, this is one of the first stops. Tourism office is close as well as many statues and monuments.

You can find a lot of shopping stores for clothes, accessories, souvenirs, footwear and what not. The main post office is building on the same street. There is a big penneys store and carrolls store which offers the best buy lots. There were amazing variety of stuff offered at these places. Dublin spire is on the same street and the... More

O'Connell Street is Dublin's core. You can either shop at Carrolls and Penneys or you can lunch at Beshoff. Also, buses such as 46A (either towards Dun Laoghaire or Phoenix Park), 40 (Towards Liffey Valley), 44 (Either towards Dundrum Shopping Centre or towards DCU), 16 (towards Dublin Airport), 140 (towards IKEA) and 123 (towards Marino) can be caught there. Overall,... More

The main street of a capitol city should reflect the esteem that those in positions of authority ( And The Citizens) have for the place. O ' Connell St to their shame is a Cess Pit , A Hole of unimaginable proportions If you enjoy being harassed knuckle dragging junkie vermin, wading through human filth and desperately looking for something... I know O'Connell Street is the focal point of the area but the number of people handing out fliers / pushing the bus tours is beyond a joke , from the Gresham down to Cathedral Street a distance of less than 100 yards you will encounter 50/60 "students " all looking to advise you that their offer is the best... This "street" is a large avenue (in refurbishment during our stay) with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants, and provides rapid access to the Temple Bar area and other main attractions of Dublin.
