Free entrance, but un-payable value guaranteed! I really was surprised that you do not have to pay an admission fee, but get the chance to see some really impressive pieces of art. This gallery definitely deserves your donation!

Small for a gallery but well arranged and simple to follow. Good range of work from an important Renoir through to Bacon via Lavery and J B Yeats. The jewel in the crown is Bacon's studio which was bought over from Kensington bit by bit. Free entry but €2 is suggested donation and why wouldn't you. There's a book shop... More

If you like light airy elegant historic surroundings in which to view good art both old and new without spending hours doing it you will love the Hugh Lane Gallery. There is even a reconstruction of Francis Bacon's studio ! A great find in a busy city and , for my money, better than the National Gallery

This is an art gallery full of promise and awe. Hugh Lane, who died on the Lusitania made sure that this would be Dublin's Premier Art Gallery, he was so right.

Most famous for the Bacon experience (his workshop is incredible) but actually we were most surprised by the excellent small collection of really good impressionist paintings - well worth a visit for art lovers - children are encouraged to do their own pictures of the paintings on the wall (although possibly not of the ladies who have not had time... Loads of paintings spread out over approximately 8 galleries. At the end there is the studio of Francis Bacon - what an incredible mess!

Great rooms, paintings, lovely cafe and the Bacon experience is amazing, a real highlight. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the paintings and sometimes they have musical events too. Well worth a visit.

Finally got here to see the studio and wasn't disappointed. However the viewing windows could be bigger. Glad to see the Krug boxes still in situ!

I popped in because I recognised it from the last time I was in Dublin about 20 years ago and found it was the only place around to shelter from torrential rain. Just like back then, there's nothing that particularly stands out outside that says what it is. It was only when the hop-on, hop-off bus driver said what it... More
