First of, the guide, Pat, has been the sweetest, most knowledgeable and genuinely passionate one could possibly hope for.
The tour itself is clearly very well thought out with the perfect balance between guided tour and free time, especially around the Gleann Da Loch.
In Kilkenny, I recommend the Medieval tour with Pat: you will get to see spots that you would otherwise just miss, or know nothing about.
We were blessed by a beautiful, sunny day, which of course helped making the experience memorable.
The tour itself is clearly very well thought out with the perfect balance between guided tour and free time, especially around the Gleann Da Loch.

Several good things about this trip. Liked that our departure time was early but not crack of dawn. We boarded and were on the road by 8:45am. Our guide was Pat and our driver was Terry. Super nice guy who was genuinely friendly and kind the entire trip. Lots of good factoids as we drove through the city (probably rivaling the hop on hop off bus we went on earlier in the week). Pat took extra time to try and learn all of our names and where we were from. He joked around some too, so he made us laugh. Lots of good info on the drive - Pat made sure to point all sorts of things out and give us stories about history or the landmarks we were passing. Fun stuff too, like where movies were filmed and such. He also did a good job of explaining where we'd be and when/where we needed to be back. Everyone on the bus was a good sport. Thanks for the great time, Pat! Note: Pat is pictured giving one of his enthusiastic explanations. 😃

We took a group of 46 students and 4 teachers from and to the Dublin airport. Our driver, Andrew, was extremely nice and very punctual on both occasions. The bus was extremely comfortable and, the best for a group of teenagers... was the USB chargers available above each seat.

Such a fantastic tour, I thoroughly enjoyed the day! Our highly skilled driver Sir Alec kept us on time and expertly navigated the countryside. Our wonderful guide Pat really made the tour an incredible experience. His historical knowledge, storytelling abilities and sense of humour kept everyone entertained all day. Pat has a beautiful way with words, plus such passion and enthusiasm that you really appreciate what you are seeing and the areas you visit. I don't think I've ever really noticed the plant heather before, but after Pat's passionate speech about how beautiful the hills in Glendalough are at the moment with the heather in bloom, by golly you better believe I was excited when we finally saw it! Pat is an incredible ambassador not only for Collins Day Tours, but also for Ireland. I arrived in Ireland less than 2 hours before the start of the tour. This was my first experience in Ireland and the dynamic duo of Pat and Sir Alec set the bar high. I absolutely loved the day walking around Glendalough, Kilkenny and Wicklow, while being entertained and educated by Pat. Thanks for a brilliant start to my holiday!

I enjoyed the tour guides info and knowledge of the history and area we visited (Phil). Cold weather and icy roads made a little change to our itinerary but it was still a very enjoyable day. Our driver was awesome (Willy). He managed the icy and dangerous roads like a pro

Wonderful! I loved the beautiful Wicklow's nature, and the cultural learning from the Marvelous medieval Kikenny city. I felt in a movie a few times.. Our driver Liam was very sympathic, and out guide Lia embelished even more the Journey turning everything magical 🙂 thank you for your professionalism!

Great tour. It was raining to start so Philip, our guide, reversed the destination order and we were rain free all day. Great locations, expert tour guide and an overall excellent day. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time with Collins Day Tours! It was a great way to see the countryside without spending 10 hours on a bus. Our tour guide Brian provided countless fun facts and interesting stories, and our driver John navigated the winding country roads effortlessly. Would definitely recommend.

This day trip with this company deserves more than any other. Philip the tour guide and Willie the driver were excellent. Beautiful route through the unique landscapes of Ireland with Philip talking to us about the history of Ireland in a unique way, with humor and even songs! Don't miss the optionally tour with Philip in kilkenny. Do yourself a favor and do this trip with them!

Hi! My husband and I spent the day today with Pat (tour guide) and Alec (our driver) as we toured Kilkenny, Glendalough and Windslow. It may be the best tour we’ve ever taken. Pat has an obvious love for his country and a lighthearted, detailed way of narrating the landscape and features, complete with a fascinating history lesson.
Our driver Alec perfectly parallel-parked that huge bus twice, and kept us safe while passing oncoming tour buses on tiny, tiny mountain roads.
I can’t imagine we’ll ever forget the experience. They made every passenger feel like pampered family. We highly recommend!

Hello. I am considering this day trip from Dublin. Does Collins Day Tour allow enough time to do these 3 things at the 3 hour Kilkenny stop: eat lunch in a restaurant, take the complimentary walking tour and tour the Kilkenny Castle (I have heard the castle takes over an hour)? If not, are there quick, take-away, lunch options there?

I will be arriving on October 15, 2016. I am booked for a week in Knocktopher Abbey in Co. Kilkenny. I am traveling solo and I have made arrangements for a rental car. Would it be possible to book a day trip private tour from Kilkenny to Killarney, Ring of Kerry and Dingle? What would the cost be? I might be willing to stay overnight and extend the tour to include other West Coast sites.

Dear Tom. Thanks for yoru question! We just do the day tour from Dublin to Glendalough Wicklow Gap and Kilkenny. Many guests take the day tour to get to Kilkenny and then either stay there or continue towards Cork or Kerry. The reason it works out well is because you get to do a guided day tour on the way south and not waste a day simply getting from A to B on public transport. I know this tour stops at Glendalough and Kilkenny. I'm wondering if there is actually a stop in the Wicklow Mountains for a chance to take photographs. The itinerary on their website makes it sound as if they just drive through the area. I've e-mailed them and haven't gotten an answer. Thanks.

Yes, we stopped for a photo op overlooking beautiful scenery. We were quite high in the mountains, so it was cold. Given the cold temps, it was a brief stop.
