Nice hike with some remarkable views. Glendalogh is really worth going to include the walk to the lakes. And the ride through the mountains was spectacular. Al explained by the knowledgeable guide Robert. With a lot of Irish humor.

Gillian was absolutely wonderful! Very friendly and a wealth of information about Irish history, not just the areas we were touring. I made visits to several other locations she suggested (including the shrine to St. Valentine). Really enjoyed the tour and the lakes. Great time!

Relaxing but fun filled day with Matt and HillTopTreks! My husband and I had already done a longer tour with another company to the Cliffs of Moher earlier in the week and weren’t interested in another 6 hour drive. We stumbled across HillTopTreks shorter, day trips and signed right up. The bus was easy to find and the group was a very small, manageable size. Only after about a 25 minute drive we reached our first destination, the beautiful Powercourt Estate and Gardens. We got some exercise walking briskly through the gardens and enjoyed looking at the various tree and flowers from all over the world. We love animals and thought the Pet Cemetery was especially neat and also fell in love with the romantic Japanese Garden. Next was a lunch stop at Poppies in Enniskerry, very cute tiny town. My husband and I shared a yummy Shepard’s Pie. Our tour guide Matt, drove us the back way through the mountains so we could really take in the scenery. The “P.S. I Love You Bridge” and Guinness Lake were spectacular. We appreciated Matt’s historical knowledge, story telling abilities and attention to detail. Last major stop was Monastic City in Glendalough where Matt walked us through the fascinating ancient ruins. Our return to Dublin was painless and we arrived a little before 5 pm! It was a perfect, stress free day exploring Ireland. Would highly recommend, thanks Matt!

My SO and I did a four-day/three-night self-guided walking tour from Marlay Park, Dublin, to Glendalough along the Wicklow Way. Terry and Gillian arranged our stays at three lovely B&Bs (although one of them no longer served breakfast, so not really a B&B, just a B). Luggage drop-off and transport between each town was seamless. The guidebook and additional information that awaited us at our Dublin hotel in a waterproof map case was comprehensive, so we never felt unsure, even for our first ever trip to Ireland. And any of our text/phone inquiries were answered promptly. On the down side, however, all the B&Bs are several kilometers from the trail--a fact that is, to be fair, warned about in the company's literature--and arranging for dinner was a problem. Only one location had dinner on-site (at an additional charge) and the only option was a walk into town--the last thing we wanted to contemplate after hiking 26km that day. They only provided a shuttle when they weren't serving dinner themselves, which left us somewhat hostage to the circumstances. The B&B near Crone Wood was very far from the nearest pub, and farther still from Enniskerry. A cab (or rather, a local who would ferry folks back and forth) cost extra. We were lucky enough to hitch a ride for €5 with a bus chartered by a group of German kids; otherwise, we would have been eating beef jerky for dinner or walking even further for an actual meal. The B&B (or just B, really) near Glendalough was near enough for a walk back and forth into Glendalough for dinner, even after hiking 58km in three days. The next morning, though, we would have been left with having to roll our suitcases 15 minutes down a gravel trail to catch a bus (at an additional cost) back to Dublin. When we called Terry to arrange a ride to the bus, he offered to drive us all the way to our hotel in Dublin--yes, for €50 more, and with a number of stops along the way to move other hikers around the country. Overall, we enjoyed the hike immensely, but others should be aware that this package is by no means all-inclusive: There are additional fees at every step along the way, for meals, transport. And when they say "B&B may be 1-6 km from trail," they are not lying--and transport to/from trail or to/from the nearest pub/restaurant may be difficult to arrange. In fact, unless you have the specific goal of trekking the length of the Wicklow Way, I would recommend coordinating with a more central B&B that offers transport to and from the start/end points of various walks in the area. This way, you can leave your stuff in one room for the duration, pick and choose your hikes (DO NOT miss the Crone Wood to Oldbridge trek; it's the best of everything we saw), and tailor your experience. Make sure the B&B has a shuttle and is willing to move you where you need to go, either hiking trails or towns with pubs/restaurants, and settle on the costs of everything up front.

Thank you very much for your very positive review. How ever all this was explained to you before your departure. You also didn't mention that you booked this very late and we did our best to accommodate you, explaining again that most places we normally use where full and you were happy to proceed. Of course I had to charge a very small rate of driving you all the way from Glendalough to your hotel in Dublin. This was also explained when you didn't wish to get the public bus as suggested.
