Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A full day trip-12 hours! Be sure to arrive at train station 29 minutes prior to departure. Wonderful views, delightful and attentive guides. We ate in Blarney and did some shopping too.

We did this tour as a replacement because the weather was too rough for the Aran Island tour. Our first Railtour guide was Frank and he was very nice and got us situated where we needed to be. Then once in Galway we transferred to a lollytours bus and stopped for tea and pictures. We got the authentic Irish experience and it downpoured on us. The rain/fog made it hard to see the landscape but later in the day it cleared up and Connemara is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed our time at Kylemore Abbey we should have found the kitchen sooner because we ended up crunched for time. Galway was very busy with the Christmas market.

This tour was our favorite tour on our whole trip! Paddy was our Railtour guide and Gabby was our shuttle tour guide when we reached Belfast. Gabby was very informative and even had her own supply of tourguide "dad" jokes! Lunch went so smoothly having ordered ahead and tasted delicious. Inspired by the Tayto rivalry of red vs yellow cheese and onion taytos we tried them and our hotel room was evenly divided! (Haha) Thank you for a wonderful trip! (Paddy also will forever be the first person to know of our engagement!)

David was our Railtour guide for this trip and it was a very nice tour. We had very nice weather and no lines at Blarney Castle! The Cathedral we saw was gorgeous! I could have gone without the emigration museum- it was interesting but made for a longer day. (Note: I do not have Irish heritage so for others it would be more interesting I'm sure).

John, our guide, was amazing and attentive to all of the passengers on board! I was not worried as a solo attendee about becoming separated or lost from the group, yet still had freedom to enjoy the sights of the trip solo! Definitely a great time!

I think whenever I’m able to return I’ll brave driving and do the Ring of Kerry in a few days. If you have the time/ability there is so much to see and so many stops I wanted to take. This trip gives you a fair amount of stops and time for photos but it’s a lot of ground to cover on a tight schedule so you end up spending a lot of time on the bus watching the scenery go by.
That said, it’s a lovely whirlwind view of this amazing landscape and probably your best bet if you have a limited time. The train and coaches are clean and very comfortable and our guide Terrance was very attentive, sweet and knowledgeable.
It’s a small company and they hire retired Irish people as guides so you can learn a lot listening to a long time native with interesting personal experiences rather than a college student. We were very happy with our trip.

We had a lovely trip with our guide Terrance to the Ring of Kerry. Terrance was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed all the breathtaking sights. We stayed overnight in Killarney at the Killarney International Hotel and it was a highlight! Lunch on the trip was great & the waterfall was gorgeous! We would definitely recommend Rail Tours of Ireland to anyone who wants a unique experience without the crowds or “tourist” feeling!

We booked The All Ireland Plus 8 day tour. Fiona and Peter were so helpful in making the arrangements and answering our questions well in advance of our trip. We covered nearly all the Emerald Isle in 8 days (more coach than rail as rail simply doesn't go everywhere). Coaches were warm and comfy, and we loved all the narration - this is definitely an island of story tellers! We could easily see that coordinating all the tours for an 8 day excursion so complex as there were different tour guides each day - but all easily identifiable in their yellow jackets! The itinerary does call for long , full days, but hey, that's what we came for it was all so gorgeous! Charming scenery sounds of nature all around, rain fresh scents, and delicious food and drink - a feast for the senses!

While we were blessed with mostly sunny afternoons, rain or shine, we had the best time soaking in the greenery (which more than met our expectations), and all the rain, rushing creeks, streams and rivers we can only dream in California's long drought. The coast was spectacular and visiting Cliffs of Moher, Inis Mor and Giant's Causeway are musts!

Tour guides were so friendly, patient and funny - typical of most of the folks we ran into in Ireland - such warm, friendly people all so proud of their counties - truly, we couldn't pick a favorite. The music, dancing and warmth of the pubs at the end of the day felt so cozy and fun and all the hotels provided excellent accomodation and service. Our favortite was the Galmont in Galloway as it had a beautiful pool and spa that made for the perfect soothing balm after a long day of touring. We easily walked over 14,000 steps a day.

The only hiccup was that one morning, our cab did not meet us in Dublin to take us to the rail station, but another cabbie who saw our plight, came to the rescue, got us to the train station in the nick of time and refused to take any fare!
In October, light layers, scarves, rain jackets and hats were more than enough to keep us warm and dry, and we enjoyed a bit of dress up for dancing as well!
Ireland is definitely a trip to check of the bucket list - what an amazing people and locale!
