About
Each walk is a gentle 2.5 hour stroll where we stop, eat and meet at six to seven different venues depending on the route. Our stops are carefully chosen to reflect the traditional and contemporary Irish table, each is small, independently owned and run. All of our guides are local, and there is a little bit of history and architecture as we walk along, but it is food led. We run our walks in Dublin and Cork all through the year. We don't walk on Sundays when the smaller independently owned places we tend to visit are closed. We also have a Food & Fashion walk in Dublin offering a taste of Artisan fashion producers alongside favourite foodie stops.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the tasty food samples whilst listening to William's account of the area/ food /supplier. Lovely banter and chat amongst the group. Would have liked some small interaction from the stall/ restaurant owner whilst we visited...this only happened in one place. However we would still highly recommend this tour.

Visiting a city can be overwhelming. This small group 2+ hour view of Dublin from the inside was a great way to start our visit. Our guide Niamh was friendly and funny and knowledgeable in that very special Irish way. Taking us around different shops for a taste of what she called the real food of Dubliners, she included great travel notes about what we were seeing and tasting. The shops had their own representative (often the owner) to greet us and orient us to what we were about to taste. My fav: Irish blue cheese from sheep's milk, delightfully creamy. I would t hesitate to book again. It was truly fun!

What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. I hosted some business friends visiting Dublin for the first time and everybody really enjoyed this interesting and informative tour. Some really tasty treats and interesting talks from the producers. Our host Brid couldn't have been more friendly and knowledgable about the food scene in Dublin. Finishing with a cracking irish whiskey in the beautiful old Swan bar. Would highly reccomend.

Having done the Dublin tour in 2019, we were excited when we saw they also provide a Cork food tour. This was a lot of fun. It was filled with a variety of delicious foods accompanied by an unexpected tour of some of the history of Cork as we went along. Our guide was knowledgeable, interesting, and kept us entertained and laughing throughout. Our tour went the full time, and we were sorry we couldn’t stick around to finish the remaining drinks with the group.

Walked the Fab Food Trail on a horrible wet morning last week but the weather didn't daunt us. Eveleen our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. What a great tour. An opportunity to try Irish food at its best. We had 7 delicacies of one sort or another and each was perfection. My only complaint was that we hadn't been able to do it at the start of our holiday as it introduced us to a part of Dublin that we hadn't discovered and would have loved to have returned to. Maybe next time.

We had a wonderful guide and we really enjoyed her and the tour. The food stops, however, were odd- a turmeric and ginger shot, some olives and cheese, a vegan Samosa, more cheese, etc. the best taste were the scones.
The area that you walk through on the tour is great! That’s a positive.

So pleased you enjoyed the company of our guide and indeed the city itself. We are disappointed you didn't enjoy all the stops though. We tend to emphasise the quality of our local produce while reflecting both the traditional (such as scones, salmon, cheeses etc) and the contemporary Irish table. Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review, all feedback is valuable to us. Eveleen

My freinds and I booked this tour after reading all the great reviews ( High tea, best coffee, crepes etc ,, all I can say is I think we were on different tour, as we saw nor tasted none of this) The websites says after all the tastings,,, you wont need lunch, this is the biggest joke of all.

Our first stop was Sheridans - where we got to sample 2 slivers of cheese (nothing that you could not have gotten if you had walked in from the street), we were then told that if we come back later & mention the tour we will get a 10% discount. After this we had the longest part of the walking tour,,, after 25 mins walk and a few stops to tell us the history of a few building we stopped at Listons ( a farmers market style store) here we got a capful of soup & a bite of rosti.. & I bought a take away coffee as I need the hit to keep going, from here we walked to a love food cafe,, where we got 2 bites of their famous cakes ( which I must say were very nice but we never even got the option of buy some to take away) from here we continued our walk, our guide Eveleen pointed out the best butches in Dublin ( but our group been from outsite Dublin are not going to travel to Dublin for a leg of lamb - good or not). From here we stopped at a local bar & and our history tour continued ( sorry i mean food tour but after hearing so much about 1916 - i thought i was back in school).
We then stopped twice more before the end of the tour once to share 2 sauage rolls between the 9 in the group, and then our final stop in Fallon & Byrne. Where we got to sample 2 postage stamp size pieces of salmon with lemon, marie rose sauce, egg yolk & egg white but with not enough samlmon & brown bread I cant tell how they tasted.
We then paid €50 each for this pleasure. I can 100% say I did NOT finish the tour feeling full... in fact I was €50 lighther, and still had to pay for my lunch.
While I cant fault the Eveleen in her niceness or anything like that,,,I cant not recommend this tour, maybe if it was €15 - I would say its a nice way to spend 2.5 hrs but at €50 I feel cheated.

We did NOT have Eveleen as our guide so this may be why it was such a poor experience. Our guide seemed very nervous and was a poor storyteller, although she did get better as we went on it was never an engaging experience. It started out with a Frenchman in a freezing cold cheese shop (so cold that our guide stood outside talking to her friend the whole time which was kind of rude) and went on to include only a tiny amount of food plus a stop for whisky at 10 in the morning and the last stop for wine. Most food tours have tons of great tastings and the hosts are friendly and great storytellers. This one was really the worst I've been on. I would check to make sure that you have Eveleen and not this other woman when you go, and that you confirm that they have several stops for food. We were starving at the end and I don't think the host ever even attempted to learn our names, even though it was a small group. It was a memory we have joked about since, the food tour that had no food!

I would highly recommend this tour well worth the money as you can't put a price on getting introduced to great little restaurants and eateries that you would never find on your own! Went back to a number of the places we discovered during the tour and had the most delicious meals there...check out Pepper Pot as an example. Not only did we get introduced to amazing little eateries and great food samples, the history of food in Ireland was interesting and getting introduce to the "slow food movement" was great.

After all the hype on all the previous reviews we decided to book this tour, there was little to no history about Ireland or Irish foods, there wasn't much consideration about food restrictions or preference and we feel that it was over priced for what it is.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Once we are aware of any dietary requirements, we always cater for them. For example if you don't eat cheese, cake, pork , chocolate, salads or fish (which are all part of our normal tour), we will make sure that there is something for you at every stop. The story of our food history is a long one and we try to accommodate all levels of interest - guides are more than willing to share further history if asked. We do encourage people to brief us on any food intolerance in advance - we really do want you to enjoy the walk.
