Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dear Sir,

I am on a short stay visit to Ireland and  Purchasedsim 08748333 20 on 08 July 2024
I visited GPO, North City, Dublin -1 on 06 Aug 2023  to recharge my abovementioned Phone number. When I asked for the available plan, the official on Position 5, said that he was not aware of any plan, in a very dismissive way. Then I found a board displayed on the said counter of a Plan, that includes 50GB 4G Data, 500 Minutes to any network and 300 Minutes & 300 Texts to other An Post Mobile customers for €12.99 top up every 28 days. I requested for the said plan and made the payment.
But today, to my dismay it was found there is no balance in my account. When I contacted the An Post customer care, it was intimated that there were some errors while recharging, but agreed to take up the case the rectify the error, by 5 PM today. But there is no action taken till now (9.30 PM).
You are requested to do the needful to rectify the error, enable me to utilise as per the given plan. I hereby attached a copy of receipt for your ready reference.  I further request you to counsel the officer who had done this irresponsible work, suitable action may be taken to avoid inconvenience to subscribers, especially those who are new to this country.
With warm regards,

It's a striking building on O'Connell Street, and at first I didn't think it was a post office.
The decorations on the counter are as beautiful as a movie set. I later found out it was an important place in Irish history. It's easy to see why it exudes such a dignified atmosphere.

I have traveled to Ireland 5 times. It is my favorite country in the approximately 35 I've visited. Dublin is one of my favorite cities--there is so much to see and do! I love reading about Irish history, especially the Easter Rising. I waited 35 years to help celebrate the centennial of the Easter Rising in 2016. So, of course the GPO is high on my list of favorite places in Dublin. The small exhibit they have downstairs is wonderful--really loved the film. I get such a rush of history when I step into the GPO. If you love Irish history or want to get a taste of it, this is the place to go. Be sure to mail a postcard there.

I am glad I was able to see this Historical Site. It was one of the meeting points for the Easter Rising- know as the Easter Rebellion, where the Irish rebels met in 1916 to win back Independence from Britain.
Over 450 people were killed and 64 rebels died, when the rebels were caught some received death sentences.
This rebellion started World War 1.
Considering this took place over 100 years ago the Architecture looks very good still and is well kept.

The entire building was destroyed but the exterior remains the same. There are still bullet holes on some of the brick work.

Yes, the post office in O'Connell Street is a place where you can buy stamps and send parcels but it is also a place significant in Irish History as it is a place where there was a battle fought for the liberation of Ireland from the British.

Located opposite the Spire it is quite easy to find if you are exploring the city.

Impressive exterior and still fully in use to this day. Unique and acts as the headquarters of the Irish Post Office. Nothing more needed than a stroll through the building to see what goes on inside but there is a retail store and cafe on site too.

Dublin's GPO - a symbol for the fight for freedom. On Easter Monday, 24th April 1916, Padraig Pearse read out the declaration of an Irish Republic right outside the building which he'd composed with his comrades James Connolly, Thomas Clarke, Joseph Plunkett, Thomas MacDonagh and others. With their army, the Irish Volunteers, they occupied the General Post Office while British troops started gathering outside; the rebels were hugely outnumbered, their guns were inferior, and they didn't stand a chance. After six days of fighting, they had to surrender; most of their leaders were executed at nearby Kilmainham Gaol.
Today, there's an exhibition about the Rising in the GPO - a great way of learning more about those dramatic days and the course of Irish independence.

This building played a part in the 1916 Easter rising for Independence & served as the headquarters of the uprising. Besides that, its a beautiful building and on a main street in town, that you'd probably pass, so stop and see some history.

A friend and I took the GPO Museum tour and I highly recommend it. Our guide was a young man who works there and has a degree in history. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, and we learned so much more than we could have if we'd just wandered through on our own.
