Peter went above and beyond in every way imaginable - he is professional, funny, personable, knowledgeable, and flexible. He was also incredibly patient with my large group’s bad jokes and small bladders.
He made our journey all over Ireland as seamless as could be: He was on time each and every day, he’d call and schedule cabs for us, and ferry rides, and make sure we were all safe and comfortable every step of the way.
We adjusted our itinerary on the fly when need be, and even took a memorable detour to a hurling pitch, where Peter showed us Americans how to play the game. Whatever we wanted to do, Peter made it happen.
Ireland is such an amazing place, and to experience (almost) all it had to offer with such a wonderful guide made it all the more exceptional. You’d be very lucky to have Peter as your guide.

Peter was the perfect guide for our family trip to Ireland. He helped us create a custom itinerary that made the most of the time we had to see the sights and gave valuable advice about which attractions were most worth our time. Our group of five included my 81 and 77-year-old parents, my siblings, and myself. Peter was accommodating when we needed to slow the pace or rearrange the agenda to allow our parents to rest as needed. His love of his country and its history was apparent, and he told fantastic stories as we traveled the roads. Peter's touring van was superbly comfortable and even had air conditioning, which was a great help during the record-breaking temps that swept the country the week of our visit. I would heartily recommend Peter and Personal Tours Ireland for groups that want to get off the beaten path and experience the best of Ireland.

Pete was a great tour guide and was very friendly to our group. His tour bus was very clean and comfortable and it was especially nice to have the bus exclusively to ourselves.
We stopped at many lovely places and Pete gave us lots of information about each place we visited. We even had time to do a bit of shopping.
I would highly recommend Personal Tours Ireland to any family travelling to Ireland, whether it is just a day trip or a multi day trip which Pete assured us is well worth it. Maybe next time.

My wife and I toured the Southern Coast of Ireland (Dublin around to Galway and back to Dublin) with Peter in early November 2023 for 8 days. Peter crafted the itinerary ahead of time, but was truly flexible with any changes we wanted to make at any time. We feel extremely fortunate that our introduction to Ireland was with Peter. His knowledge of Irish history, passion for Irish culture, and friendly banter made the trip fun and special. Peter struck the perfect balance of guiding us and giving us personal time/ freedom to explore on our own. Peter was an exceptional guide when it came to staying away from tourist traps and getting an authentic experience. He was also very helpful in ensuring we paid attention to details that are often missed without a knowledgeable guide. We fell in love with the people and country in 8 short days thanks to Peter. We hope to return in the future, and we highly recommend booking with Personal Tours Ireland and have peace of mind that every detail will be taken care of and that you will have an amazing time!

Without doubt visiting Ireland was the best trip of my life. I can say without a doubt that Peter's contribution to this experience was the height.
Deciding to travel with a group of 14 people from America to Ireland was a big decision in itself. We based our accommodations on certain 'hot spots' and decided we were going to try and go ALL the way around the country in 10 days.
As our trip neared, the anxiety of driving cautions and rentals/ luggage space, etc started to take over. During my research into a personal driver, I noticed Peter's name and Personal Tours Ireland kept popping up. Naturally, I did a deep dive and some serious cyber sleuthing into Peter and his company. It only took a little time to feel comfortable enough to send that email requesting more information from him. Upon that initial response, we spoke multiple times via email, phone, and what's app. Peter presented us with an extremely detailed itinerary based on our booked accommodations (this was before we even booked his services).. After a discussion with our group, we all said yes. Prior to our trip, Peter was constantly in communication to make sure we felt comfortable with the recommendations and was professional and responsive with any questions I had.
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Peter at our hotel in Dublin. To say our lot was chaotic would be an understatement, trying to wrangle 14 people in a different time zone was a task on its own. Peter met us with patience and professionalism. What surprised us the most is we had booked Peter thinking he would be driving us around the country.. what we did not realize is we booked someone who would passionately TEACH us and GUIDE us through Ireland. The knowledge we accumulated while on this trip was unbelievable. The routes we drove were filled with beauty and history. Some of our favorite spots were not the 'instagram' locations we had originally thought, although, every bit of this country was magical, our favorite experiences were the unexpected ones, thanks to Peter's expertise.
We all felt a bit sad our last day for leaving Ireland, but also for leaving Peter. We spent 8 wonderful days and over 2000 kilometers with him at our side. His passion, knowledge, pride and love for what he does and for Ireland was evident. As a whole, our group stated numerous times that the best part of this trip was having Peter with us. Without him, we would have missed some of the most beautiful parts of Ireland.
I have and will continue to recommend Peter to anyone who asks or even inquires about visiting Ireland. A remarkable human with an even more incredible professionalism and passion for what he does.

We chose Peter and Personal Tours Ireland based on the excellent reviews online. Peter was so easy to communicate with prior to our vacation and met us promptly at the airport upon our arrival. We started with a tour guide, but after 8 days, over 1000 miles, 20 counties, and countless ice cream cones together, we would now call Peter a friend.
Peter is a passionate Irishman, a wonderful historian, and one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Whether you're taking a single day trip or a multi-day tour, it's important that your guide is personable and friendly. Peter is all of that and more. He doesn't just drop you at a pub for lunch; he gets out of his van and walks into the pub before you to make sure there's a table for you. He doesn't just drive you to the visitor's center at the Cliffs of Moher, he drives you to the top of the Cliffs behind a locked gate.
Meeting Peter was the best part of our trip to Ireland and saying goodbye to him was the worst part. We promised Peter a five star review if he found us a sheep to pet. Needless to say, he went out of his way to make it happen. 10 stars for Saint Peter and Personal Tours Ireland.

Peter was an amazing tour guide during our trip August 1 - 9, 2024! Our family of 8, which included 3 school-aged children was made to feel very welcome in his country from the start. Before we left the US he assisted us with creating an itinerary that ultimately covered nearly 1,400 miles. And he was flexible enough to allow unplanned detours mid-trip to visit some towns of ancestral significance to us. Peter's recommendations for music, dining and excursions were great. The kids loved the Ninja Warrior activity in Galway when it was raining too much to do anything else and the birds of prey/cave experience was a lot of fun. Many of the best sights were along roads that would make anyone nervous driving on even in the best of conditions, but we always felt safe with him behind the wheel. We could tell that he is passionate about what he does and I recommend Personal Tours Ireland without reservation to anyone considering a trip to Ireland. Thank you so much, Peter for the wonderful experience and life-long memories you helped create!

We decided in April that we wanted to have a private tour of Ireland in September. How did we find Peter? Friends shared their wonderful experience with a different private guide, but he had no availability during our time frame. He readily recommended Peter, even sharing links to his website and his glowing reviews. Peter replied quickly to my email, asking for my phone number so that we could speak via WhatsApp. I’d never experienced such immediate attention which greatly impressed me. Interacting with Peter on the phone was efficient and also allowed me to begin to know the person who would be our guide. Given the lateness of our request, we were extremely lucky that Peter had a week available---just one during the last week of August---and we quickly booked his 7-day itinerary
Although we followed the progression of the itinerary, Peter was quite flexible in allowing us to make adjustments to it. For example, once Peter realized that we were looking forward to viewing the various landscapes, he adjusted our routes to highlight back roads through quaint locations as well as much attention to driving along the coast. Peter used GPS, but his amazing internalized knowledge of the roadways of Ireland allowed us to experience much more than a typical GPS-provided route.
As Peter got to know us better, he made concerted efforts to maximize our daily experiences beyond the itinerary descriptions. He provided comprehensive details of the sites were we seeing, and, as a patriotic Irishman, he shared the history of Ireland’s quest to become its own complete sovereign nation; a quest that he clearly believes has not yet been fully achieved.
Based on our wonderful seven days with Peter, we strongly recommend you too experience Ireland with him as your guide.

My family recently finished an 8-day tour of Ireland with Peter Cooney. We were originally just looking for someone to get us from town to town as we did some sightseeing and visited Irish relatives. With Peter, we got so much more. We were able to create a custom itinerary, with a few suggested revisions, and I don't think we'd change a thing.
Peter was on time and prepared every day, and he adapted easily to our ever-evolving plans and occasional indecisiveness. He offered valuable suggestions on sights worth seeing and those we could skip. He provided interesting information on the historical and cultural significance of the sights we were seeing, and if we had a question that stumped him, he would do some research and report back the next day. When we wanted to hike through Gap of Dunloe, he dropped us at Kate Kearney's Cottage and then arranged for a boat to take us back to Killarney across the national park there. Along the Slea Head drive, he called ahead to set up a sheep dog demonstration, which was a big hit among animal lovers in our group. Peter even bought us a couple pints when we ran into him in the pub one night!
I hope it's clear by now that Peter Cooney and Personal Ireland Tours get our highest recommendation. Visitors to Ireland should consider booking him for tours of any length. Slainte!

Peter was perhaps the best guide we’ve ever had, which is not a mantle we assign causally. He was unfailingly patient with our, ahem, varied family group,ranging in age from 11-82, with all stripes of personalities represented.
Peter was incredibly knowledgable about Irish/Northern Ireland history and culture, and he conveyed it all with such good humor and detail that we hung on every word.
We were not the easiest group, to be sure, but Peter exemplified grace and patience, and, after two stints guiding assorted members of our family, he is an honorary member.
There aren’t many people I could spend 10+ days with and emerge feeling even more positive about them, but Peter is a uniquely lovely human. We would hire him again in a heartbeat.
