About
Located in Dublin’s historic Liberties, Pearse Lyons Distillery, Dublin’s only boutique distillery, is a five-minute walk from The Guinness Storehouse. Nestled in the former Church of St. James, this distillery has a colourful history dating back to the 12 Century. On tour of the distillery and surrounding graveyard, guests are introduced to the compelling characters from Dublin’s famous distilling and brewing district. This district, rich in culture and tradition, was once a place of booming industry known as The Golden Triangle. The Pearse Lyons Distillery produces some of Ireland’s finest small batch Irish whiskies and celebrates the Irish tradition of storytelling on each guided tour. Guests enjoy a sensory experience as they are brought through the distilling process, before enjoying whiskey and gin tastings at our tasting bar. All booklets, interactives and welcome video are translated in seven languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese and Portuguese)

This was one of the friendliest and unique distillery tours we have taken. On this occasion our party included My wife and I and my grown up son. A beautiful setting made all the more special because of the obvious love and dedication put into this facinating project. Not only that but to produce such a fabulous range of whiskey to boot. Staff were knowledgeable and obviously vested in all that has been and is going on at Pearse Lyons. Highly recommended attraction and a very special shout out to our friendliest of tour guides, Grant. You made our visit so memorable.

This is an excellent and highly recommended tour of one of Dublin's newer distilleries, taken on the afternoon of Sunday, 13th November 2022.

Neither my partner nor I were familiar with Pearse Lyons before we did the tour, but I had previously visited Jameson's distillery so this one offered something a little different - though I didn't realise how different! The distillery itself is based inside a decommissioned church with links all the way back to Thomas Becket, and which was extensively renovated by its new owners. As such, it comes complete with its own graveyard, full of Dublin history! The tour starts with a video that takes you through the history, and then it's onto the guided bit. Our guide was Bernard, who was a wonderful and engaging story teller, full of humorous and interesting snippets that really brought the tour alive. The second half of the experience was a tasting of different Pearse whiskeys - and if you've not tried them, and like a good, smooth Irish whiskey, I heartily recommend them. The tasting was well led (sorry, to my shame I can't remember the tasting guide's name) and you get a real feel for the different tastes and flavours of the whiskies. There is a small but well-stocked shop to browse around, but absolutely no pressure to buy.

Although only a small distillery, producing around 200,000 bottles a year, the company has already started picking up some prestigious awards for its whiskeys and, I believe, for its tours. An excellent experience and very good value.

John was an awesome tour guide! Loved the history behind their building! Wonderfully told and award winning whiskeys! Though the gin at the end was my favorite!

We were greeted nicely, welcomed in.
We started off with a short video and a shot of whiskey.

Then did the tour around, and tasted whiskeys at the end.
We were lucky we were the only ones on our tour.
Our tour guide was amazing! He was so knowledgable and so engaging.

Would definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed our tour over the weekend with John! The buildings are finished to such a high standard and the site has a fascinating history. John was incredibly knowledgeable and great craic! The whiskey itself was gorgeous and went down a treat. Would highly recommend the tour and tasting

Our tourguide was John and he was a great tourguide.
He was very knowledgeable and funny. It's not only a tour about the distilling process, but you also learn a lot about the history of the church and about the area of the distillery.
The whiskey tasting was great I loved the 5 year and the 7 year old.

Very knowledgeable and friendly tour guides, excellent whiskey tasting experience - this was our first stop in Dublin and I would recommend it as it goes in to some of the rich history of the area and the Golden Triangle

You can tour any distillery and learn about the whiskey making process, which is fascinating, but if you also love history, impeccably restored historic buildings, monumental feats of engineering and a family story with a lot of heart, then this is the tour for you! The St. James church itself is incredible and the only way you can view it is on a tour.
