Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Notwithstanding its name this tremendous tower never had any religious function or role. Built in the 1750s, it was actually a wind mill that powered the prolific Roe's Distillery until 1860 when steam took over.
It acquired its now official name from the effigy of St. Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland, placed atop the mill by the distillers. Being just over a metre tall the figure is barely visible on the construct that is about thirty four times its height.
The mill was used to grind corn, one of the first steps in the whiskey making process. This area of Dublin was home to many whiskey producers and for a time George Roe ran one with likely the highest output of any in the world.
The advent of prohibition in America, allied with other global factors, erased much of Roe's business. By the mid 1920s the distillery ceased production and the company was dissolved in the 1940s.

Built is the mid 1700's, this was actually the tallest smock windmill in Europe, nowadays just a lone tower, also the host of the local flea-market held once a month.

As we dashed into the coffee cabin located in front of the beautiful monument we spotted the tower in all of its glory and read about its history etched on to the door of said establishment. Good historical find!

Every Sunday, within the liberties, around the the tower, is the awesome markets with many stalls selling food, trinkets, secondhand cloths, old LP's, as well as many more, definitely worth a visit.

Remarkable "tower" that actually is a copper topped widmill. Annex, there is a place where you can have a snack and a drink which seems to be well visited during the week-ends. Less well known because of the proximity of the Guinness brewery?

We visited this gorgeous copper topped tower that has a picture of St Patrick on the copper top of it in October 2018 en route to the Guinness storehouse. It is close to the red tram and is well worth going by on the way to Guinness!

My husband and I rested for a week at the Royal Hotel .. everything was excellent .. we had a room on the third floor with a beautiful view of the pool, good food three times a day, free alcoholic drinks, cool evening shows and various shows .. it was actually a 5-minute bus ride to the sea , but the beach was clean, with music .. in general, we had a great time...
