Strolling Through Ulysses! is a one-man show about James Joyce's novel, "Ulysses", written and performed by Robert Gogan. It takes place in the Stag's Head Pub Theatre, Dame Court, Dublin 2 on various dates throughout 2018. Robert also performs in various other venues throughout Ireland. Strolling Through Ulysses! outlines the fun-filled story of Bloomsday - June 16th 1904 - the iconic day around which James Joyce's "Ulysses" is based, guiding you through the curious events and quirky characters of Joyce's famous novel. It's a 75 minute romp through "Ulysses" - bawdy, irreverent and great fun! The Stag's Head Pub & Theatre is an iconic Victorian establishment located in the centre of Dublin just a 5 minute walk from Trinity College.

Went to see this show last night and for the first time I now understand what the book is about. Robert made the characters come alive..... He really can switch with the flick of a Bowler Hat! It was quick, funny, a tad naughty and...More

Hi Rhone, thank you for your review. I don't know where I'd be without my Bowler Hat on stage! In Ulysses it's described as "Plasto’s high grade ha". It's presumed that the 't' is omitted from the description because the label is either torn or...More

Attended this show with some reservations I’ve made several attempts to read Ulysses and am reasonably familiar with the story, it seemed an interesting way to mark the approach of Bloomsday. Robert Gogan is clearly a Joyce scholar and had the temerity to punctuate the...More

Hi KerrySullivan, thank you for your review. I think that a lot of people have reservations about attending my show, fearing that it might be academic and 'above their heads'. But, of course, as you discovered, it's nothing like that! I know that many people...More

Robert Gogan is a one man show on every Wednesday evening at the Stag’s Head. I was concerned as like most people I have never read Ulysses but knew it was a difficult book. Gogan summarises the story by acting out so many of the...More

Highly recommended - Mr. Gogan does an excellent job bringing the book to life; his annotated version of Ulysses is worth getting also.
