Went to see this show last night and for the first time I now understand what the book is about. Robert made the characters come alive..... He really can switch with the flick of a Bowler Hat! It was quick, funny, a tad naughty and...More

Hi Rhone, thank you for your review. I don't know where I'd be without my Bowler Hat on stage! In Ulysses it's described as "Plasto’s high grade ha". It's presumed that the 't' is omitted from the description because the label is either torn or...More

Attended this show with some reservations I’ve made several attempts to read Ulysses and am reasonably familiar with the story, it seemed an interesting way to mark the approach of Bloomsday. Robert Gogan is clearly a Joyce scholar and had the temerity to punctuate the...More

Hi KerrySullivan, thank you for your review. I think that a lot of people have reservations about attending my show, fearing that it might be academic and 'above their heads'. But, of course, as you discovered, it's nothing like that! I know that many people...More

Robert Gogan is a one man show on every Wednesday evening at the Stag’s Head. I was concerned as like most people I have never read Ulysses but knew it was a difficult book. Gogan summarises the story by acting out so many of the...More

Highly recommended - Mr. Gogan does an excellent job bringing the book to life; his annotated version of Ulysses is worth getting also.

Whilst 'strolling' through Dublin on the first day of our trip we saw a poster for the show. Having not read Ulysses (although my partner had tried), we went along thinking it might be fun. We were not disappointed! A great show, fantastically brought to...More

Hi DBrock001, thank you for your kind review. I'm delighted that you thought that the show was fun, because that's exactly what James Joyce intended when he wrote the great book. There are so many other hilarious pieces from the book I'd love to include...More

We saw Strolling Through Ulysses on our last night in Ireland. The small theatre in the famous Stag’s Head Pub was a perfect venue for the show. We loved it — Robert Gogan is a dynamic performer bringing the characters and novel to life. It...More

Hi Elizabeth, thank you for your review. It's great to get a review encompassing one person who had read the great novel and one who hadn't. When writing the show I was hoping to appeal to "Ulysses" readers and non-readers alike and it look as...More

Forget about the tourist sights. If you want to meet nice people, get the feel of a traditional Irish pub, and see a show that just percolates with Irish character and culture, set aside an evening for the Stag’s Head pub when Robert Gogan is...More

Hi DaedalusLex, thank you for your review. Yes indeed, many people who come to the show and who tell me that they're quite familiar with "Ulysses" also tell me that they never considered approaching the great novel from an entertaining or humorous angle, and that...More
