This is a museum well worth a visit. It is in the heart of Dublin City Centre. It immerses the visitor into the happenings of 1916. This was a crucial episode in Irish history. You almost feel as though you are there in 1916 during the battle. The touch screens and exhibitions are amazing and certainly worth a visit. The... More

First call on our brief itinerary and I learned so much. I'm 54, live in England and have no Irish antecedents. Shamefully I knew so little about 1916 and events both before and after; the exhibition and film provided an excellent introduction. The film was perhaps a little stereotypical (heroic rebels, stupid British) but perhaps that's how it was. I... More

I had knowledge of the 1916 uprising but this exhibition really tells the whole story and the very sad ending of the uprising, but it changed the whole country in the end

It was interesting to walk through this important (albeit rebuilt) space and see the efforts made to tell the story around Easter 1916. As an Irish citizen from North of the border I feel that the national identity that bound together those who fought against the British Empire has not been an obvious part of the Republic's persona until recently.... Packed full of history, this is worth a visit. It tells the story of the 1916 uprising from the perspective of those who occupied the GPO before surrendering to the British. Good bit of history. Our guide was terrific and connected through her stories with our group of university students.

The exhibition tells the story of the 1916 Easter Uprising, through a mixture of text boards, films and artefacts. As well as the actual events it gives a perspective on the impact on ordinary Dubliners and its impact on the development of the modern Irish state. It says it takes 45 minutes but we hired, for only 1 Euro extra,... More

This museum is really interesting and also at the heart of where it happened. It tells the story about the Irish rebellion and everything that preceded and followed that event. I was impressed. Good introduction into Ireland

I had family involved in the rising so it was a good way to see what really happened and to get a sense of how modern Ireland come to be.
