Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A little out of town, a very interesting hotel with a staff that cannot do enough. We're so happy we stayed there.
By the way, you have to ask which table in the dining room is occupied by the ghost, or they won't tell you. Come to think about it, they may not tell you whether you ask or not.

Served by Clionadh who was the cheeriest person, very smiley and very attentive. Sadly, the crockery was chipped and stained. The sandwiches were great, albeit tiny. The sweet food was ok, no great shakes for a five star hotel. Had to ask for hot water for tea on a few occasions. My advice, do your homework if you want a special afternoon tea experience. We had a fantastic time at another hotel in Derry that was no comparison to Lough Eske.

A huge thanks to Gerard for starting my car this evening when the fob stopped working.

I had a lovely day in the Lough Eske spa and had parked outside the castle. When I got to my car I couldn't even open it, never mind start it. I was on hold to the insurance company hoping to get them to come and rescue me and went into reception. Gerard came out in the drizzle, gave me a lift in the wee truck over to the car, poked about the key for a while and got the bonnet opened and had me on the road in no time. Thanks, Gerard. I got home safely but I'll be back soon. Go raibh míle maith agat.

This is a beautiful building in a lovely setting. The castle itself is stunning and the sitting rooms across from reception are beautiful and very tastefully decorated. We stayed in a courtyard room which was beautiful and spacious. However, the food was very poor. We had our first evening meal in the restaurant and we were very disappointed. The only nice part of the meal for either of us was the salad that I had for starter. The menu is ambitious but they aren’t getting the basic elements of the food right. Buffet breakfast was very disappointing also. The hot food options were cold. While there were some egg-based breakfast options which were cooked to order, in a 5-star hotel with these prices, all hot food items should really be cooked to order. We ate in Harvey’s Point for the rest of our stay. Also, the decor in the bar area is outdated, not very tasteful and not in keeping with the rest of the castle. Very hard to relax in a bar with bright scarlet walls. The restaurant could do with a revamp. The spa is very well equipped and we enjoyed that but the food and run-down restaurant and bar areas really took away from the experience. There are lots of castle hotels in Ireland that are at a similar price point and far superior to Eske, unfortunately.

Nice place to visit for a short trip.
There are a few roads down to the lough so important you pick the correct one or you can find yourself on tricky one lane roads.
Some walks around the lake, near Harvey's Point and if you stay at Lough Eske Castle a really nice prepared walk.

We had a lovely stay in Lough Eske. It is a beautiful property that is very well maintained and has excellent facilities. Our room was very comfortable and was extremely clean. The restaurant, lounges and bars are great - excellent service and great food/drink offerings. Breakfast was excellent - great food and service. Effortless check-in and check-out. The staff were excellent - so friendly and helpful, from the moment we picked up the phone to make our booking to the last wave goodbye. We are looking forward to going back already.

Dropped in for a drink (and a €9 meal) with a few friends. Very friendly staff and couldn’t haven’t been more friendly or helpful. Stunning place and beautiful grounds also.
