Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I promise you it is not what you expect unless you want a slow moving, terrible music, poor informative boat trip. Only reason it gets 2 stars is they do have a full bar (you will need it). Don’t do unless you are 70+ and even then is young.

Our group of mostly senior citizens thoroughly enjoyed the experience, a very interesting documentary making us aware of what we saw, the history, entertainment, some of our group went up to sing. Scenery was beautiful, wild life the seal colony. We were able to see places from the water that we had experienced travelling on the road. A very comfortable water bus, refreshments tea/coffee and stronger drinks available served by waiters. Ww would most certainly recommend this trip for all age groups. Well done crew and thank you.

I enjoyed the boat trip around the bay and some of the historical information shared. It is a nice way to spend an hour or so. I did not care for all the songs on the way back, and it was too loud, a couple of songs would have been ok but it was relentless. If nothing else turn off the speaker on the upper deck area so you can go outside and enjoy the scenery. Would have preferred more history of the area, but maybe there is not that much more to tell. Decent scenery, plenty of birds, and saw a few seals swimming.

It is a nice enough ride around the bay, but not much to see. If it were not for entertainment, it would have been a boring hour ride.

This is a amazing trip to take if you want to learn more about Donegals history. It isn’t the most modern inside, so i recommend sitting upstairs on the top deck for a better view. The views are amazing. The elderly man singing near the end of the tour was good fun. Full of laughter! This tour is family and dog friendly also.

This is a nice boat trip down the bay to the point where the bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. We saw seals in the distance and plenty of birds. They have a bar on board serving coffees & alcoholic drinks. The main reason for doing this trip has to be the commentary & banter - not to mention the sing song on the way back!

This was one of the most surreal experiences of my life..we were passing though Donegal town during a stay in Fermanagh and saw the tour..we had to wait for the car to charge so thought why not.
5 min in and I was contemplating jumping overboard and swimming back. I felt like I was trapped in an episode of Father Ted…. Very long, very dull hour with little to see of any note and nothing of any significant historical importance or context from the pretentious leprechaun of a guide.
Then on the way back the sing song of old Irish tunes…🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️…I have no words.
I have no words to truly explain the experience and was just grateful for the on board bar.
Not for me!!!

Ok. Let me be clear.
Fill in my mini-survey to see if u should do it.
1. Is your dislike of country music/Neil Diamond songs/1960's kitsch great?

Mine is. Don't do it. HOWEVER:

2. Do you know too little abt this area but your worship is great of historical facts about your people?

Me too.

Conclusion: I had no choice but to take it.

What went wrong:

This unbearable septuagenarian singer/tour guide acting like it's cool to offer yourself up as a paddy/leprauchan stereotype with a sad nostalgia abt his best years back in Neil Diamond's time, is obviously untouchable by the company who has the monopoly on the only tourboat of the bay. The owner loves him obviously. I am guessing a monopoly is at work. Driving away any actual history-loving possible competition.

Instead, the ugly music replacing the desperately-needed historical, shocking truths which could easily be provided by Queens Univ Belfast PHD grads or undergrads, means the boat owners think all tourists are morons.

Music: In Newfoundland a 24-yr old singer of sea shanties & irish songs was the perfect host of a tour in St John's Harbour, telling true stories of ppl who hunted whales and facts about the puffins & of survival in the past centuries. and of brave naval officers and their interactions with whales and seals that blew our minds.

Dude has not read about whaling. He should look up the Wellerman in youtube to update his repertoire. Needs to dump his personal choices in favour of whaling shanties: "In South Australia I was born" would have been better. Fields of Athenry was his only pertinent song. There are famous songs written about leaving this exact port!!!

Drop "The Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round!" It is American! Nobody organizes entertainment for toddlers instead of adults on this type of tour.

Dude has no information on the role of this port during all significant wars and invasions. Dude never mentions that the seals we visit teaching baby seals to fish are actually in an official breeding area. Dude never mentions what attributes Donegal Bay offers in that specific area which makes it an ancient seal birthing area.

Fire him please! Make it an informative experience! Dont alienate the adults ffs!

This was a lovely day spent with my wife. The only down side is you could not hear the commentary. And it seems like a trip to see seals and a sing along back.
