One of my favourite places to visit

This is a must for those of us who think that Donegal is the best county in Ireland. Set in the wilds, this castle provides you with a unique experience.

No express visit can be done here...you need to plan a bit of a walk in the park along the lake. There is a shuttle too if you cannot walk, or the walk is too long (about an hour, taking your time, to the castle and gardens). It definitely worth it and if the weather is nice, why not buy... More

We needed to bring 2 dogs with us and I found this was a much better experience than I expected. We left the dogs in the car while we enjoyed coffee and baking in the circular restaurant with windows overlooking thewoods. The trail to the castle along the edge of the lake as much better than expected as it was... More

Outstanding trip to a magnificant national park. The castle tour is a must to fully appreciate the the landscape and setting. The extensive gardens along with the lake and trails allow you to transport yourself back to the early 1900's.

We visited the National Park in glorious weather - the sky was blue, the lake calm and the walk from the visitor centre to the castle lovely - we even managed it with a wheelchair (a bit of effort required), though we cheated and got the shuttle bus back! We even heard a cuckoo en route! We didn't have time... More

Had a lovely day out in glenveagh national park recently. We were very lucky as the weather was perfect for a leisurely stroll around the castle grounds and up above the castle to view the lakes. The castle tour was very interesting and funny. The tea room at the castle served lovely food with very friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend... More

One of half a dozen or so national parks on Ireland. Once inside we parked and went for the bus as directed but discovered that one has to buy the bus tickets (€3 each, return) from the visitor centre. The bus had waited. The castle is 4K from the entrance, and some people walk. Tickets for inside the castle were... More

Went here for a day trip on Bank holiday Monday and what a beautiful day we had. There is plenty of parking space and picnic areas. Toilets are clean. Area is well sign posted with lots of beautiful walks along water. The scenery was simply stunning. Small shop available. there is a bus shuttle into the castle from the car... More

National Parks all over Ireland are beautiful and let's you embrace nature a little bit more. Glenveagh is no different. By chance I ended up here after attempting Mount Errigal and the 4km (one way) hike is absolutely worth it. I've seen people using the shuttle busses but I cannot imagine having the same experience taking a bus than taking... More
