One of the most Northerly courses in Ireland is actually in the Republic (which is southern Ireland) and it's Ballyliffin. Played the Glashedy links and it's golf on steroids like most courses along the North & West coast of Ireland. Think the tees that suit you and then move up one when the wind blows ! It's a great test... More

I was recently over in Ireland for the British seniors at Royal County Down, I decided to visit Ballyliffin as I'd been told how good it was. To be honest it was breath taking. From the minute I got out of the car I was greeted by a group of locals who made me so welcome, only the Irish could... More

This was our 7th course visited. The course was in good shape although we had another day of 25mph consistent wind with gusts higher. We had enjoyed the course and had to play do short to the green so the balls would run. Greens were fast with the wind and slow against so it wasn't easy to make many birdie... More

As we drove through the pouring rain to Ballyliffin, we were shaking our heads. We played in the full gamit of Irish spring weather - cold, wind (gale actually), hail, rain sideways. Ballyliffin is not for the faint of heart or the casual golfer! That aside, it is a great 36 hole layout that is true Irish golf, with nowhere... More

Choice of two links courses to play. Super club house and excellent sandwiches and Guinness. Other food looked good but we didn't sample it.

This was our last round of a six round golf trip. We knew the weather would be a bit iffy, but had prepaid, so off we went. No exaggeration, the wind had to be a steady 50mph with higher gusts than that. It was also cool, about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. These conditions made for some very interesting and difficult golf.... I traveled to Ireland in 2009 and spent five weeks playing golf all over the country. I became enamored with links golf and the limited opportunities to play true links courses in North America contributed to return trips to Ireland and a couple of trips to Scotland. In five trips to Ireland, this is the one golf destination I have... More

Played all day on a trip through Ireland- teed off at 9am played until 8 pm- There are some very memorable holes, the course was in tip top shape, and as the wind shifts through the day the course plays very different- the pro shop staff was very accomodating and helpful, top notch young pro, and we had the place...
