Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Being my namesake, we made a pilgrimage to visit Charlie's Bar. We went at lunch time and apart from us there were only two locals - so a bit soulless! The bar maid and the locals, after we had our drinks, chatted amongst themselves and whilst not prudish in any form, we noted every second word was the f-word...and not the term that is generally used and pretty much accepted. Not a particularly welcoming or relaxing type of pub and I would give it a miss.

Great spot for a pint of Beamish... or Murphy’s... but especially if you like live music. Awesome bands performing there! This time a blues trio, and I had the great thrill of hearing an excellent version of “up on the cripple creek” from The Band (among other great songs, do u know “messin’ with the kid”?). Totally recommend a visit

We stopped at Charlie's about mid afternoon. Not your 5 star sort of place, but I don't think it was meant to be. Small and cosy; it's a blues bar and I imagine it must be rocking and packed in the evenings. We pretty well had the place to ourselves. After serving us, the bartender went outside to chat with a couple of locals who were having a smoke and enjoying their beverages outside, out on the sidewalk. My pint was a Beamish Stout, the cider was an Orchard Thieves. An interesting pub, for sure.

...spot of live music you may imagine if you like quality. Night after night great performers, some nights went magic. I surely recommend for a nice pint of stout and some guitar or bass or drum solos

Went on a Monday night to hear Hank Wedel and did not regret it! Small local pub with wonderful “regulars” who were very inviting to our group from the US! Hank (guitar) and Ray Barron (mandolin) were great! Enjoyed our evening immensely!!

we spent two nigths friday and Saturday in this little bar, its a great spot for the live music, if you like some Neil Young, spencer davis group, rolling stones, there are two very good bands that play here and provide great entertainment and no cover charge.

The only complaint i would have is that the toilets needs to be mopped out during the night

This is a small bar which hosts live music most nights and on Sunday afternoon. I went on a Friday evening and heard a great blues/rock band. I arrived about 9.30 and found the bar virtually empty. By the time the band started at 10.30 there was a decent crowd and soon after they began the place was packed. A great little venue for live music.

Visited on Sunday afternoon. Was very quiet when first arrived but soon filled when the music started. Very enjoyable atmosphere with a really friendly landlady who came and had a chat with us although got the impression she doesn't take any nonsense. I thoroughly recommend a visit.
