About
University College Cork is one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities. It boasts a vibrant, modern campus with a student experience second to none in Ireland. A learning community where the student is at the heart of everything and the special relationship between student and lecturer is primary to our unique ethos. The campus is located a mere ten minutes walk from the heart of Cork city, a former European Capital of Culture. Cork is listed as a top ten location in the Lonely Planet guide which states it “has always had an unshakeable self-confidence and innate sense of pride”, a description which is equally applicable to the University itself

- sandwitch1831Lincolnshire, United Kingdom1 contributionTerrific tour!Fantastic tour of the beautiful UCC campus, guided by Barry. Lots of interesting information about the history, with the highlights of the tour being the Ogham Stones, the Crawford Observatory and the Honan Chapel. Will definitely be returning to do the tour again with my daughter. Would highly recommend this tour if you're visiting Cork.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 April 2024
- Shivasai chCork, Ireland3 contributionsA Vibrant and Historic Campus ExperienceI am currently pursuing my MSc in Information Systems for Business Performance at University College Cork (UCC), and my experience here has been nothing short of exceptional. UCC is one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities, and it truly lives up to its reputation. The campus is a beautiful blend of historic and modern architecture, providing a picturesque setting for study and leisure. The Quadrangle, with its ivy-clad buildings, is particularly stunning and offers a serene environment for students. Academically, UCC excels with a wide range of programs and a strong emphasis on research. The faculty members are not only knowledgeable but also approachable and supportive, fostering a great learning environment. The university's commitment to sustainability is evident in its green initiatives, making it Ireland's most sustainable campus. Cork city itself is a vibrant place to live, with a rich cultural scene and friendly locals. The university's proximity to the city center means that everything you need is just a short walk away, from cafes and restaurants to shops and entertainment venues. Overall, UCC offers a well-rounded and enriching experience, both academically and socially. I highly recommend it to anyone considering studying in Ireland.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 13 September 2024
- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain24,073 contributionsVery nice main building of the universityUniversity College Cork is the main building of the university of this city, the second largest one in the country. You can walk around all university campus and enter to the main building, while there are a lot of students. It is a very nice place to walk, relax and a very good zone for students. Pitifully, we had not time and we could not visit the main building, only see it from outside. Next time.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 September 2024
- AndréaneParis, France548 contributionsBeautifulMagic. I would love to study in such a place. The architecture of the historic building is truly magnificent. Going there during the summer holidays allows you not to disturb students and to be quieter. Admission is free provided you do not disturb the people who work there. There is a souvenir shop but it is not always open and the times are not specified on the university website which is a shame. The university even has its own chapel on campus.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 January 2025

A nice guy in a red sweater gave a good, funny and informative tour over the beautiful campus. I especially liked the observatory with the big telescope. It was great experience to have the temporary feeling of being a student again and getting the starter tour when life opens up. It was an awesome feeling to walk over the vibrant campus with al the students walking around. I would highly recommend to go out of season and have a tour with a small amount of people or privately. Just see the website off UCC and show up at a random weekday.

Barry of UCC’s Visitor’s Office gave me a fabulous on-campus tour focused on the history of the campus. I’m a firm believer in locating tours that are a bit off the beaten track. You learn so much more about what happened in the past, but also what’s happening currently. This tour was a true gem! Noreen

Edith was excellent. So knowledgeable about UCC and the little secrets and unknown things. I've studied at UCC for a number of years and so much was new to me. Things like the buried statue, the superstitions, the walled garden. Edith is passionate, articulate and enjoys conducting the tour.

I must say I would not mind attending a University with such lovely buildings & gardens .
We did struggle to find the entrance & to find parking which resulted in not all of us being able to walk around the grounds.
The property was really neat & the gardens really beautiful & I noticed a coffee shop as well as a few pop up stalls around te property .
It was a quick visit more for a photo stop but I really enjoyed walking around the grounds

I am considering bringing a group to visit Cork as the part of a larger tour of the West of Ireland. The three city bases we are considering are Cork, Limerick, and Galway. I plan for the group to spend a minimum of two days in each city, and three in one of the three aforementioned cities. Which of the three would have more interest for a university group? Thank you in advance for your help.
Written 16 February 2016
Cork is the biggest, so there would be the most to do and see. I would recommend skipping Limerick and going to county Kerry instead, specifically Killarney. Far more to see and do and a lot more beautiful. This is where I would spend 3 days. If you have a car, drive the Ring of Kerry for some outstanding scenic views, and spend time in lovely typical Irish pubs, maybe even catch a trad session!
