This was a very interesting tour with headphones. A good comparison of sentances then and now and how much more leanient we are today - we went after the London riots so really made us think. The Warden and various prisoners were personalised from the prison/historic records which definately added to the tour. Our 11 year old really enjoyed it... More

Although the entry was slightly expensive, the tour was both interesting and engaging. However the tour could be significantly longer. The staff were both inviting and helpful, and it was well worth the walk.

The 8 euro entry fee is definitely worth it here. We live in Cork but had never visited up to now. The member of staff that attended to us was very pleasant and helpful, but I did notice that some staff were a bit grumpy to say the least. Maybe they thought that they were warders rather than tour guides!... More

Very clean large city. The inner city was very much like large cities in Europe. Ther were many pubs and restrurants. The city was good for walking .Trains were available to Dublin. i would not reccommend city as destination point.

My in-laws were visiting from Spain and I had always wanted to visit the Gaol so saw this as a perfect opportunity. The Gaol tour itself is mainly contained to one wing and it´s a severe shame that the rest of the gaol has been left to ruin. But the wing that is open to the public is a visit... More

The Gaol was hard to find...bad sign posting but a local informed us that the road had recently been changed to one way! anyhoo, when we got there we were not disappointed...the building is lovely and well looked after..the staff working there were really nice and child friendly...I just had a problem with the headsets we were given to tell... We got the bus from Cork town centre for a couple of Euro's to the visit the Gaol although it's not too far to be walked. Lovely little place to visit, very interesting. Shame they are letting the un-renovated part of the Gaol rot away though. Well worth a visit and very cheap to get in, think it was only... More

I was in Cork recently with friends for a weekend and I really enjoyed the city, We visited Cork City Gaol which is an excellent venue, We got there using the open top bus, which stops directly outside the Gaol and collects at various times throughout the day, I would highly recommend a visit, very educational and enjoyable experience, the... We spent the October bank holiday in Cork and visited the Cork City Gaol. My husband and I learned a lot about the history of Cork and the Gaol and would recommend it to others. My three-year old was impressed for about five minutes, but the staff that work there were VERY good with her! Since she was being so... More

The Gaol is a fair walk from the city centre, however, if you can make it on foot (its mostly uphill) i'd say its worth it as its a nice walk. The Gaol itself is in quite a pleasant setting, although inside its a completely different story. Admission as of Mar07 is EUR5.00 per person, and you have the choice... More
