Beautiful! Must go! Stunning and light history. If you walk there try to go through the parks! It's a lovely scenery!

Went there just by walking around the area. Paid 10€ for a ticket with audio guide. Would recommend this as otherwise just watching premises would not be interesting. I would recommend this place for history fans. Maybe less of interest for the kids.

I passed by the Gaol every day for about 10 years going to work and eventually, with work, got to go inside. It's a very impressive building and to see the facility first hand is well worth the entry fee. For history buffs it would be a great tour and an insight into life behind bars during the time. It's... More

First rate, excellent. There's no much more you can say about it. If you see one museum in Cork, go here.

Visited here with my father after many years of living so close to the area and felt it was a well worth visit. The educational value and experience you get by visiting is great and would recommend that everybody go and make this visit

On a cool rainy morning, we walked from our B&B near the University up to the Gaol (jail). Mostly uphill and not for the faint or weak hearted. The Gaol itself is a remarkable example ot the terrible conditions to be expected if one was a shoplifter, or anybody who stepped across the law of the land. Great exhibits and... More

We went on the informative and enjoyable city bus tour. One of the stops was the gaol. It was not too wordy or ponderous yet managed to be entertaining and engaging. The audio tour brings it all to life and you can go round at your own pace. We went round in November so it wasn't busy.

Very interesting place to visit. You receive an audiobook as you walk around which explains each part of the jail and introduces you to some of the inmates. You are allowed access to most parts of the jail whcih shows you what life in the jail must have been like. The grounds are also quite pretty.

Gaol is quite old and an amazing piece of history. Good for all ages, including families with children. Took about an hour or so. Went later in the day, so there was ample parking. If choosing between Kilmainham Gaol and this one, choose Kilmainham because that tour is quite amazing and informative.
