Feel a little let down, only get to see the west wing, you get told of the hospital and debtors prison, but you don't get to go to them, you are funneled through the grounds from the gatehouse, you don't even get to have a look round the grounds.

Very historical and suitable for all ages I would think. Can bag a bit creepy but that adds to the charm!

We love historic buildings and so when we visited Cork City last week, Cork City Gaol was a must for us. This no longer in use jail was the perfect mix of eerie, informative, sad and interesting all in one. If you do visit, please take out the self guided headphones. They're a must to really enjoy the experience.

A lot of anecdotes, but not much to see actually. The person made it quite interesting but you don't many information about what it was like at that time.

We visited with a 10 and 12 year old. The gaol is interesting and well suited to a visit. Our 10 year old found it a bit creepy, not helped by statues/models of in mates and warders etc. An interesting exhibit on Irish radio was a bonus. Don't miss the governors tunnel- you can't go in but just a crazy... More

I visited here with my two children aged 10 and 14 we decided on the audio tour. We all found it a great place to see as we learnt so much about Irish history. It was certainly a highlight of our trip to Cork.

Myself and 3 others went to this tourist attraction while in cork. In my opinion it's a must see! Great way they present and tell the story of a bit of Irish history. The waxy figures and little paragraph on each area really gets your imagination going on how it was back in those days. I would highly recommend visiting... More

The Gaol is one of many lessons in Irish History. There is a video presentation in the auditorium that gives a great historical overview. Visiting the cells and reading the inscriptions really paints a picture of the individuals that were imprisoned there, most seem related to the civil war time, and very much humanize their experience and the struggles in... Great place to visit and discover the past of Ireland. It is an interesting place but can be a bit cold inside during the winter so dress warm.
