Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thus is a beautiful spot very near the city centre!
It’s a large freshwater lake and a sanctuary for all kinds of birds, including swans, geese, ducks, and many more. There’s an island in the middle which provides safe haven for the wildlife.
It offers a nice walk around the perimeter and there’s plenty of seating. It’s also full of fish which proves the cleanliness of the water.
People fish there and also sail miniature boats.
It has even been skated on in wintertime!
One thing I’d strongly advise is if you bring food for the birds please bring green veg like cabbage broccoli lettuce and not bread! Bread jams up the birds intestines as they can’t really digest it very well and it also pollutes the water!

A lake in a suburb of Ireland’s second largest city , unique would be only way to describe This Oasis , this lake was originally a Bog nigh on 80 yrs ago, over time it has become a 16 acre lake , favored by anglers and those just seeking a Pleasant walk in their neighborhood , from 5am to midnight all day every day ,hail ,Rain , or Snow , all levels of joggers frequent this sanctuary , Bats are accommodated in the Rows of tree all around its circumference , one has to duck and dive them in the summertime when they are most active, many species of waders ducks and wildlife make this their home in the summer and winters. Outdoor traditional Irish music is played here every Wednesday evening from June until the end of August , on the Southern corner is a Pub called the ‘Hawthorn’ great spot to have a cup of coffee , a bite to eat, or a beer or two! Music provided on Thursday and Saturday night , free entrance to all , on the north eastern corner is a cafe ‘ ‘Alchemy ‘, open from early morning to 7/9 pm most evenings , Bus from the city center takes about 7mins , so no excuses not to visit ! Once u walk around it , u will understand why it is so beloved of Corkinians ! Enjoy !

We'd seen a hilarious video on YouTube done by a guy who gave voices to the many birds that live here, so we had to find our way to the lake while walking around Cork during our visit. It was a pleasant visit as we made our way around the water's edge. We saw white and black swans, white and Canadian geese, ducks, cormorants, pigeons and a few species I didn't recognize. We didn't see the herons or some of the other birds, but a local said they'd recently had a large fish die-off in the lake and it was rebuilding the population. It was also the hottest, driest summer in 40 years, so that may have played a role, as well. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch the birds or enjoy a take-away lunch.

Gorgeous place! Beautiful birds and healthy too! My only complaint is the FisherMen, they take up the whole path, leave hooks lying around for small kids to find and often leave rubbish like nets or fishing wire in the water to tangle the animals! I’ve often had to call animal services to save a swan tangled in net or a duck wrapped in wire! The Lough itself is beautiful, but rules need to be put in place for FisherMen definitely!

This water fowl and fish area has a nice walking loop around it, with plenty of benches and grass areas. There is a little playground for smallies. You will see a lot of fishermen camped out along the waters edge, which I found as fascinating as the Lough itself. There is pet shop across the street that sells bags of feed for the ducks and swans. There is an asian restaurant as well, where you could get a coffee. There is a butcher across the street. There is plenty of parking. I believe it is disc parking though, so just make sure you have a parking disc with you.
