About
Céad Míle Fáilte A Hundred Thousand Welcomes! Welcome to Cork City Walks. We look forward to meeting you on one of our friendly, informative, leisurely walks around our beautiful and charming city. We encourage interaction and banter as we seek to share with you our love of Cork, its unique history, friendly people, colourful culture and Corkonian wit and traditions. We will take you on a leisurely walk around the compact 800 year old city, where you will experience the smells and sounds of the English Market, stroll the busy lanes of the 18th century Huguenot Quarter and wonder at Burges’s magnificent French Neo-Gothic cathedral. Mindful that a healthy walk generates a good appetite, we will help you discover a variety of places to eat, drink, enjoy live music (ceol agus craic) and enjoy the best entertainment Cork has to offer during your visit. At journey’s end our wish will be that we have lived up to your expectations and that when you return home you will encourage family

Absolutely wonderful and charming walking tour with Bart.
Myself, my wife and mother in law had the most wonderful few hours with Bart hitting the streets of Cork learning all about its fascinating history from the Vikings through to the Revolution and Independence.
The blustery weather didn’t stop Bart (a highly intelligent, engaging and sincere tour guide) from imbuing the three of us with his intricate knowledge of the city and how it went from marshy islands to the lively Rebel county of the 20th century.
We learnt about architecture, town planning, wars and revolution and the local commerce. In fact, we learnt so much I needed a lie down afterwords!!! You can definitely tell Bart must have been a charismatic and erudite teacher in his past life.
To top it all off, he kindly finished our tour off with a beautiful tasting menu in the English market and a lovely Corkonian goodbye.
We’ll definitely try to arrange another tour with Bart next time we are in town visiting family.
You should most definitely book yourself in a tour with these guys!

As part of my work, we welcome many international visitors to Cork throughout the year. I have booked this tour multiple times and each times our visitors thoroughly enjoy the experience, each tour guide is so knowledgeable and has a real passion for the city and its history. I too have taken this tour many times along with our visitors and although I'm from Cork all my life I learn something new each time!

Such a lovely morning in the company of a learned, fun and interesting guide. In spite of knowing a bit of the city’s heritage, we learned a huge amount in a short space of time. Meandering walk around the city with plenty of stops to catch up on the history & current plans for the place, made for a tour which will remain with us forever more. Thank you Jack x

We organised with Jac Sheill to provide us with a unique and somewhat different insight into Cork city and it’s intriguing past as we had been on previous Walks within Cork city itself. Jack provided a wonderful change of scenery for us that was historically intriguing with the follow-up events and visitations that we could continue on with over our time in Cork city itself. He’s informative and clever insight was refreshing and welcoming. A big thank you Jack from Josey and Max.

We recently took a walking tour of Cork with Michael O'Brien, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Michael was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating historical insights and local stories that really brought the city to life. On top of that, he was friendly and made us feel right at home. Knowing we had just gotten married, he even gave us a small, thoughtful gift, which was such a lovely surprise!
Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful tour with Jack. He walked my wife and I throughout City Cork engaging us with the history and stories of this enchanting city. We ended in the English Market with tastings of seafood and cheese. It was a fabulous experience.

Helena Nugent was our guide for the Highlights of Cork in a half day walking tour. Our party of 4 met at the Hotel Metropole in downtown Cork. We walked to Saint Patricks bridge, Helene summarized the history of Cork as we walked. ducked into the local museum to see some incredible sculptures. We toured the English market and enjoyed the story about Queen Elizabeth's visit there. We learned about Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral and it's connections with the Masons, also took some amazing pictures.
We took a much needed break for coffee and when the tour was over Helene directed us to a local pub for late lunch. Helena was very informed, knew the answers to all our questions and a delight to be with. This tour was excellent.

Sure, you can read guidebooks and historical accounts, but a living city is best explored with a living (and lively) guide. Bart is the best - knowledgeable, informative, and enthusiastic. You’ll learn the lay of the land and the lore of the Lee, and be well prepared to take off on your own, with a stock of insider’s tips. Highly recommended.

If you only have time for one thing to do in Cork City, it should be this walking tour. I was the only person to show up on a mid October morning, but my guide Jack wasn't put off by that a'tall. I've lived in Cork City 3 months now and actually thought I had little to gain from this tour. Was I ever so wrong. I was fully impressed by his depth of knowledge from St Finbars founding of Cork through Vikings and Normans to the present as well as future urban development, incredible breadth of knowledge. I also learned of a great many establishments around town that were new to me. Deserves 6-stars and in my opinion it should be he #1 rated thing to do in Cork City.

While staying at the Hayfield Manor we took a private walking tour with Bart Bambury, a colorful and informative guide who is a walking encyclopedia about his city of Cork. Since our hotel was close to University College Cork, we started our tour on the campus and learned more about the university than a casual visit could permit. We probably wouldn’t have found the Stone Corridor or mud cabin on our own, and would have walked past the George Boole statue without recalling his significance in mathematics.
From UCC we walked toward town center. Bart showed us the medieval city walls of the ancient walled city and took us to Saint Finn Barre’s Cathedral, where he enlightened us on its architecture and statues.
The highlight of our tour was the English Market, where we enjoyed an amazing fish platter and met the owner of the fishmonger market. We enjoyed some dessert and tea, and strolled through the market. My favorite item was buttered eggs, a Cork specialty: freshly laid eggs that are rolled in melted butter. Bart even sang us some Irish ditties before saying goodbye.
I’m sure that each tour is unique. Since our hotel was close to UCC, Bart included it. Other tours may focus more on city center. My only suggestion would be to know in advance more about the tour: its length, some highlights of the tour, and how much food to expect to eat at the market.
