Although the March weather was tough, the beach is massive and a great cobweb clearing walk. The giant Chessman is interesting after the tiny carvings in the museum

Just beautiful we stayed in our motorhome in the little campsite that backs on to the beach.. the sunset was awesome and the colour of the sea and sand more resembled the Caribbean! Can't recommend highly enough.. will definitely be going back there!

We visited Uig sands some time back, we parked on the beach , the tide was out and we walked the sands quite a distance, it was a great experience, with great weather.

They'll tell you that these sands are large and impressive. Go at low tide and you'll realize that that is a great example of Scottish understatement! They just go on for ever. Make sure you wrap up well because the wind there is unbelievable and you'll get sand-blasted...but it's worth it!

A truly huge beach with the typical white sands and turquoise seas of the island. This is where the Lewis chess pieces were found and has an information board with some good facts. While you're there visit the community shop. It's a great place to meet to locals and get some tasty food.

Visited when the rain and wind picked up so didn't stay as long as my trip in May. Only bad day in a week! Love this place - we were alone on the beach - it is other worldly. Near the community center, store and distillery - perfect.

We had a beautiful day but a bit windy, it didn't stop Cameron getting his socks off for a splash in the little pools though. The beach is huge, its pristine, remote and peaceful and we pretty much had it to ourselves. A great bracing walk, this is a wonderful place to relax and just enjoy the beauty of the... More

It happened to be a lovely sunny day so the beach was perfect and we loved the giant carved chessman.

Lovely beach, no one else around. Had a lovely walk along the beach. Great for dogs to run around. Very peaceful location.

Stunning location, made even better by the lovely sunny weather (unusual for October!) Gorgeous secluded beaches and countryside.
