Iolaire sails twice daily from Iona at 9.45am or1.45pm OR from Fionnphort at 10am or 2pm. The trip lasts 3 hours and you can get on or off at Fionnphort or Iona. The Iolaire is a brown wooden boat and returns to Fionnphort first at 1pm or 5pm and then to Iona 10 minutes later. The sea journey takes 45 minutes and en route a wide variety of sea life may be observed. Once at Staffa a commentary is given and Fingal's Cave can be seen from the Iolaire. Passengers are landed weather permitted and given at lease one hour ashore which allows time to walk into Fingal's Cave or up the ladders to see the puffins when they are in season. There is always something exciting to see and the crew will be happy to welcome you on board the Iolaire.

Had our first booking cancelled coz of appalling weather but were lucky to be re-booked for the first trip in the better weather (06/10/17). Had a lovely trip across to Staffa with mainly shags/cormorants along the way. Excellent and knowledgeable crew and the skipper even...More

Thank you for coming to Staffa with Iolaire, I am sorry you didn't see a whale of even some dolphins, however Fingal's Cave is always there and it is wonderful. Glad you enjoyed seeing the seals.

We were a bit anxious about the trip as the boat seemed quite small but we had a terrific time. An experienced crew made us feel very safe and they had good knowledge of the area and other islands. Sea was a little rough on...More

The rock formations on Staffa are indeed amazing and well worth seeing. It is good that you didn't miss it and got the weather to achieve the trip. Thanks for coming with Iolaire to see Fingal's Cave.
